Best part of Ealing to live in?
Discussion
Ealing Broadway / Northfields are quite nice places, albeit expensive ones due to easy transport links into central London.
The problem with Ealing is that the areas which surround it (Hanwell, Northolt, Acton and Brentford) are pretty grim.
Lots of cahncil estates innit; the breeding ground of the redneck and the racist.

My brother lives in St Kilda Road - a few blocks back from the Uxbridge Road. I spent a fortnight there during London 2012 and found the area to be safe (as a Gamesmaker I was either leaving home at 0515 or returning after midnight), the local pub The Foresters is to die for - the full range of Fullers ales and (reflecting the nationality of the landlord IIRC) a magnificently wide ranging Thai menu - fantastic food at sensible prices.
Then there is Northfield Road - a street with a variety of shops, including a superb French boulangerie-patisserie. I was advised not to "explore" north of the Uxbridge Road as apparently there is a dodgy estate nearby.
As a lad living in a small-ish town in Somerset, I revelled in the atmosphere of the area. There appears to be a range of property available but I found it to be a pleasant place to live with most things that I count as essential, together with good transport links (tube at Northfields, tube/mainline at Ealing Broadway), M4 close by, good local shops, most supermarkets (Lidl, Sainsburys, Waitrose etc) are within walking distance. Quality (& variety) of life is a given. If I ever decide to make a break from Somerset to the capital, Ealing/West Ealing is somewhere that I will definitely consider - it is cheaper than the likes of Richmond but has its own advantages. And if you do want to go out in Richmond use the excellent public transport, or use your savings on accommodation to pay for a cab.

It seem Hillingdon and Richmond are the nicest boroughs?
Richmond, yes.
Hillingdon, no.

But as you've probably established from this thread, you get good and bad areas everywhere you go.
Ealing is okay, I'm not a fan of Ealing Broadway but around Northfields and Boston Manor is nice enough.
Lived in Acton for about 11 years. Always liked Ealing, especially South Ealing, which back then (about 15 years ago) seemed to have its own village atmosphere. Traffic all around Ealing was bad then and worse now. But it was easy enough to put up with that.
Would I swap it for living in a village like I do now? Of course not, but if I had to move back to London, Ealing would be the first place I would look at.

Lived there (North Ealing) for 20 years, or should I say I grew up there. Ealing Broadway is the main s
tty area and the further west you go the worse it gets...it really is a horrid place as you get to West Ealing.
Plenty of good places to stay though, Ealing Common is ok, North Ealing is ok, Gunnersby Road is ok, Pitts Hangar Lane is ok...(these are the best parts in my mind)
But it isn't as good as it was and i don't think it will ever be...

One of my best female friends is from Hanwell. It wasn't as nice an area to look at as South Ealing but nicer than West Ealing. She's moved out so I've no reason top go back there but it seemed alright enough but we're talking a good 10-15 years or so.
As for West Ealing. Coming from someone who has spent alot of time in Grove, Bush, Harlsden etc I'll also agree I've found WE to be a bit of a funny area. I have found myself being more cautious of people around me for some reason.
