I really enjoyed, though Gadot was superb as Wonder Women, maybe some of the slower sections could have been trimmed but I thought the fight scenes were epic - 7.5/10
I thought you said some of the "shower sections" at first. Got my attention biggrin

Might be worth putting the references to who Ares is in 'spoiler' tags for those who haven't seen it yet

The film has been out for a week already. If you don't want spoilers, why would you click on the thread?!

It's not for my benefit, I've seen it. The quality of a film can be discussed for prospective viewers to identify whether it's worth watching without spoilers being revealed no?

Quite right. I've edited my post accordingly.

Saw it tonight. It was ok, one of the better DC movies and I like this incarnation of Wonder Woman. Definately had a Captain America vibe about it.

Unfortunately some of the effects were pretty ropy and I felt the story plodded a bit too much in places. Chris Pine came across as quite awkward against Gadot's excellent performance. A lot of the humour just didn't hit the mark and it felt a little forced in places and a little too obvious in others.

It just didn't look or feel as polished as movies in the Marvel series and it's a shame WW isn't a marvel character as I feel Marvel Studios would have done it much better.

Partner and I thought it was a steaming turd of a film.
Why is every hero a Ninja.
Boring first 40 minutes..
No real references to the TV series.
I could go on..

Yeah, early reviews said that it was pretty decent and seemed to be giving it about a 75% rating, which is good but not earth shattering. However, the PC/SJW element so prevalent on the internet seems determined to say it's the most amazing superhero movie ever since it has a female hero. I don't think that they are doing the movie any favours as building unreasonable expectations can ruin a good movie for the expectant viewer who's ready to see a total blockbuster.

I'll probably wait and watch it when it comes out on streaming. That said, I actually really liked Batman vs Superman and thought WW was a great character in that so I might like it better than I think I will.

It's really not 'earth shattering' though - a female directed superhero movie with a female lead will always bring out the white knight brigade who will cry "OMG best movie evvvverrrrrrrr"

The movie was ok and I like the character - but it could have been a lot better - and DC still have a lot of work to do if they want to come out from behind Marvel's shadow.

I saw this yesterday with my daughter.

Good grief, what a crap movie!

Crap acting, crap plot, crap directing, crap humour, crap historical accuracy, crap, crap, crap!

But my daughter enjoyed it.

If you were expecting historical accuracy from a film like WonderWoman then I think you were going in with expectations set WAY too high

Kevin Smith's wife (heart famously made of stone and no interest in the superhero genre) cried throughout for similar reasons.

Probably thinking back to those times when her husband made decent films. A grown adult, male or female, seeing a superhero as their role model is pretty sad to be honest.

Whilst I did enjoy it, it wasn't an amazing movie. I do believe it to be the best DC movie of the current crop.

I think it's more to do having representation on the screen. The comments on Mayo & Kermode, Facebook reviews etc seem to confirm plenty of women have been quite moved by the film and what it represents.

I saw this last night and entered the cinema with trepidation given Suicide Squad and Batman vs Superman... However I thought it was pretty damn good film.

Well paced, with a good introduction to back story without lingering on it to for to long. Great action scenes with many well timed slow motion set pieces. I only realised who Ares really was later in the film but thought it was clever the story ark of him hiding in plain sight.

Its a solid 8/10 for me and I'd welcome any future films in the story arc!

It's not as if it's the first female-fronted franchise though. Off the top of my head we've had Alien, Underworld, Resident Evil, Catwoman, Ghost in the Shell, Aeon Flux, Electra, Tank Girl, Underworld, even Mad Max Fury Road or Terminator 2. It does look like a good film and I am looking forward to watching it, but the degree it's being politicised is ridiculous

I agree surely Kate Beckinstale (especially since she is english) should have had all the crazy feminist press first back in the early 00s .She is a very strong lead in underworld , also pretty easy on the eye :P

Was ok.
Was a bit slow in my opinion.
Action scenes were ok but I didn't think the fight with Ares was worthy of the final showdown.
Gal Gadot though.
Perfect Wonder Woman.
