BMW 135i Coupe (E82)

Now looking into a simple reflash. MHD has become recently available for N55 E - series BMW's
I've got a K+ DCAN Cable, USB OTG adapter and battery charger ready, can now hook my phone up through the OBD Port. Just need to purchase the Flasher Module and map pack. (And ideally the monitor module for logging)

Went ahead and flashed the MHD Stage 1 map. I was pleased with how easy this was once I bought the kit needed. (Battery charger, USB OTG cable, DCAN cable, Flasher Module, Map pack)
Ctek MXS 5.0 battery charger connected.

During flashing

The car now feels like I feel it should come out of the factory, noticeably stronger pull, very pleased!
Also got round to buying and fitting a new non leaky expansion tank

Very interesting, I have been looking at the MHD flasher and wondering if it is the way to go for my n54. Seems a little to good to be true to me, but I keep hearing great things about it! Glad it's worked out for you.
What is the expected output after the map? How is the power curve?

I had been a bit dismissive of MHD early on, but the more I researched the various options, the more MHD seemed to come out on top. For N54 especially, it seems to have almost a cult following with universal praise. It's not long out of Beta for E series N55's, but I had enough faith in what I'd seen and read to go ahead with it.
Not sure what power wise the increase is, it's just a stage 1 OTS map for 98 Ron fuel, which suits a bone stock car. Approx 10-15% increase. I would like to get to a dyno, flash it back to stock and then compare with stage 1, but it's certainly a noticeable difference, the power/torque delivery was a little too linear stock for my liking, it's now that bit more exciting/ fun to drive. There were a few dyno pics on other forums but Photobucket has broken the links now.

Went on a dyno today for a power run just to see what the difference the MHD Stage 1 map made.
Mixed results, book figures are 306 BHP / 295 ft-lb and it made 326BHP / 340ft-lb.
I flashed stage 1 back on while I was there after the stock power runs, it made some pretty big mid range gains which I was pleased to see, but less pleased to see the weird dips and rises, not as smooth as I'd hoped. But fueling etc was all all fine so it all seems safe enough.

Got some ramps which made it nice and easy to do an oil change. Lack of a dipstick concerned me slightly prior to doing the change, tried to measure the oil that came out as best I could and then put the same amount back in. was approx 6L. The electronic oil gauge read just below Max.
Other issue was I couldn't remove the damn oil filter housing, the removal tool I had wasn't gripping it great, it was slipping whenever I tried applying enough force. Fortunately I tried to remove this before dropping the oil.
So a week later and I have the correct BMW removal tool now, so much easier.

Next job is replace spark plugs. Looks a bit of a pig to do with the amount of "stuff" that needs to be removed to gain access though.
Looking forward to Silverstone Sunday Service next weekend, though not tracking this time.

Nice car mate, looks like you look after it hehe. Like the Grey and Red.
If you want a custom tune through MHD, if you eventually add more mods, I cant recommend BQ tuning enough, though think he's more N54 than N55.
Also check out http://www.n54tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1... as there is a N55 section.

Attended PH Sunday Service at Silverstone, which was excellent as usual.

Whilst there, collected some style 436M wheels from fellow PHer MPS-Ben from his 240i. Fitted them straight away that evening. Was a bit worried how grey on darker grey would look, and I was a fan of the 261M wheels fitted, but fortunately I think I prefer these, and the tyres (Michelin PSS) are a massive improvement in grip and comfort from the runcraps I had fitted.

Thanks guys
Mikeyscott - not yet, it's on the to do list, but probably not until next spring / summer.
Yours was one of the cars I was seriously looking into btw when it was for sale, but was out of my budget.
Car had it's MOT today and passed with no issues other than an advisory for the rear pads which I'm pleased with.

Mulling what to do with mine TBH, fit parts / keep for a bit more or sell for a M135i auto / Golf R / S3
It’s the manual I dislike am anauto man
Did a bit of maintenance, got new coilpacks, spark plugs, cabin filter and air filter.
Actually bought the wrong air filter
anyone need an N54 (Mann) Air filter?
The process of changing the coils / plugs was a bit daunting, there's a lot of things to remove, Many Covers, Cowl, Intake, Strut bars, quite a few wiring connections / harnesses to undo just for access.

After putting it all back together, initial startup had a misfire on cyl 1... Luckily cyl 1/2 are very easy to access. Had disturbed the connector to the coil struggling to get the front engine cover back on. Pushed it in and all good.
Until a few days later, misfire on Cylinder 3. Balls. Had no tools on me, had to get gf to come out and bring some to me. Again a connection was loose.
Decided to get it all apart again that evening and double check everything.
Found Cyl 4 like this:

Should be sitting like this

Started to get worried about the coils I used, they don't seem to lock the electrical connector in place very reassuringly. I have checked and I did get the right coils, they are slightly different part no. to the one's I pulled out, but are the latest revision BMW use in N55 / S55 engines. Delphi GN10571
The orientation of a few coils was slightly out meaning they were't sitting in the groove made for them, so adjusted that and triple checked all connections were as snug as I could make them. No misfires since, so far.
Also got a new downpipe to go on, not tackling that job myself, looks tricky.

After a quick wash.
