Have sympathy for anyone living there since 1946 as they couldn't have foreseen what was to come when the then government stole the airfield from Fairey Aviation.
Given that's now 70 years ago, I bet there's no more than a handful of people left living in the vicinity from then.

I would think 99% of the local population have been born and brought up living with Heathrow, in which case like me, you've got used to it, or you have moved into the area knowing that one of the worlds busiest airport was on your doorstep, in which case you should STFU.

As with all other big projects in this country, the sad NIMBY c***s should be told to f**k off or go lie in front of the first bulldozer which has a brick on the accelerator

Fed up with endless consultations where we get to hear which flavor of encrusted newt is likely to lose its nest, or how coffin dodgers like Doris and Herbert (who'll have popped their clogs 15 years before the first plane lands) are against it because their crappy little cottage is in the way

The lot of them can fook off

Yep, as a kid in the 60's/70's I lived under the outer marker for the crosswind runway 23.

Snap, and same time frame.

My infant and primary schoosl was directly under the R23 flightpath, about 9km out from the piano keys.

More is needed with the infrastructure around the airports too, this was on the news the other day:

https://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/introducing...

The bloke they were interviewing said if they built one between Gatwick and Heathrow then you could get between the two in 4 minutes.
I don't know about the numbers into each airport, would that then make it possible to avoid the need for another runway? or if it doesn't it might open up options for different locations.

Overheard an American at Windsor castle dismayed at the nose to tail planes out of Heathrow 'why does the Queen let them fly over here'
A third runway isnt going to improve on that
If a subsequent monarch is going to try to prevent over flying, what other suitable place has good communications road/rail with London and the south and west?

Back in the early 80's my late father, err......'worked' at Windsor Castle, and a large American gentleman, in bright blue 'western suit' and large Stetson, just as an airliner passed overhead, enquired of a nearby Policeman on duty....

"Swell home your Queen's got here, but why did she have it built so close to Heathrow airport"

I live in Harmondsworth. I wish the third runway would come along sooner rather than later.

I've been along to a few of the consultations and made it clear that I really don't mind. I used to live in Stanwell, directly under the flight path, and my only "complaint" was that the 0730 747 flight on a Saturday would wake me up. Then I realised I didn't have to go to work, so I snoozed happily for another few hours. I complained again when I moved to Harmondsworth because any go-arounds on the northern runway usually happened just far enough away that I could hear the aircraft but not see what it was thanks to the trees in my garden. It took a little while for the LHR rep to understand that I was being facetious.

Many people in Harmondsworth and other local villages helped build Heathrow near their villages when it was needed as a civil airport while most other airports were military

Those 3 options
Those are options laugh

Given that you can't get to Heathrow without queuing for 14 hours on the M25 already, how does another r/way help?

Need another complete bypass around london outside of the M25 to make it work.........

Also, increasingly, business are not flying people round the world. Why spend £1,000's and waste days on a trip when you can do it virtually?

So, that leaves the extra r/way for holiday makers, well, when it becomes too expensive to holiday abroad (after brexit) then we don't need to worry about them either...... ;-)

None of which adds up when you see the statistics for increases year on year regarding business travel demand.

It has never taken me more than 2 hours to get to Heathrow from Southampton. Usually 1hr15mins. Gatwick is arguably in a worse position as most people will still have to use the M25 and the M23.

Your other post about demand for air travel is fantasy not fact. The U.K. broke and then broke again and again it’s air traffic records last summer.
