OP, send Corbyn to Venezuela, so he can see how a socialist utopia worked out for them.

I'd lobby for a 100% ban on advertising. By all means have 'specials' on TV and in publications, with news about new cars, tech, toothpaste or whatever. But none of the following would be permitted...

Obvious product placement in films.
All sponsorship of the desparately unsubtle kind.
Insurance adverts.
Adverts for booze.
Holiday ads.
Teleshopping inserts and channels.
Short-term credit ads.
Fliers.

In short, anything unsolicited. To find out about something they actually want , people could look on the 'net, make
phone calls and look at the 'specials'.

Then watch what happens to the cult of celebrity.

Thenm the constant 'be a consumer or suffer' we're force fed would be a thing of the past. [/quote

Don’t be a pleb, advertising drives sales which helps grow companies which helps employ people. Selling / advertising should be always encouraged provided it fits within moral and legal guidelines.

The economy would be in a terrible state if you did this.
Producing things that people want drives more sales. The right things for the right people would sell without anything other than functional advertising, information or whatever.
Completely disagree. People often don't know they want something until they are inspired (by an advert) that they want / need it.

I stand by what I said, the economy would tank.

Great idea for a thread and something which I have spent many hours considering.

1) Bring back 2 yrs National Service
2) Ban football, rugby and boxing
3) Remove social security and reintroduce a modern variant of the workhouse
4) Child benefit to be means tested and stop after the 2nd child
5) Mandatory life sentence for drug offences
6) Enshrine in law the right to protect your property, family and possessions by any means necessary.
7) Removal of the myriad of pointless speed limits, a built up area is 30, a non-built up area 80 and motorways 100
8) increase the level of training required to pass a driving test and require reassessment of all drivers every 10 years
9) Remove the incessant requirement for teachers to generate statistics and allow them to concentrate on actually teaching
10) Coupled with the above, a massive investment of cash into the education system to try and improve young people's opportunities and also...
11) Return to an 11+ style grammar school based education system where young people are prepared for the life they are suited for intelligence-wise... not everyone is suited for University and we used to have a manufacturing industry to be proud of when we actually taught such skills at college.

I could carry on but I expect I'll get castigated enough for (some of) these so will stop now!

Introduce a maximum number of chain restaurants permitted in any given town. I think that maximum could be set at one per 10,000 inhabitants. All other restaurants to be independently run.

Flying Goose Brand Sriracha to be made compulsory.

Abolish Twitter

At least one dog per floor of each office to be made compulsory, to be referred to as the "Chief Borking Officer"

Whiplash to be declared "not a thing"

Anyone found to be involved with the production of Mrs Browns Boys to be sent to the Gulag, which we will set up on Canvey Island.

Any PH manifesto would include the following and rapidly gain power, surely?

1. Reunite the UK and centralise power back to Westminster
2. Review the requirements needed to attain British citizenship
3. Reform the House of Lords and abolish nepotism
4. Rigidly enforce immigration quotas to avoid over population
5. Renationalise the railways (I admit this is un PH)
6. Increase pensions
7. Take steps to halt globalisation and protect small businesses
8. Bring our lawmaking back from Brussels
9. Compulsory exercise in schools for teenagers
10. Wage war on Fake News

That should do for now - who's in???

Cheers
I'm sure that's either BNP or UKIP........I'm not saying there aren't some good ideas in there mind, just surprised that "bringing back the birch" and "compulsory singing of the national anthem" weren't also in there.

Pretty much most of the answers in this thread are UKIP / Nationalist / Gammon / back in my day themed.

Bring back national service and workhouses, Jesus wept.

People who stop at the bottom of escalators to faff, check where they are going etc., should be forced to be human centipeded together for a day.

If those people happen to be tourists, to show the outside world we’re not barbarians, the penalty is reduced to immediate deportation.

Which cheese though? Some cheeses make me ill, some contain penicillin so again make me ill.

Others make me shake but these are normally hidden ones in Canada or the USA.

A nice mild cheddar is fine.

Reform National Insurance.

A) Go back to what (AFAIK) it was meant to be like. Your contributions are effectively state-mandated savings. Whatever your balance upon retirement gets paid to you as a bonus in addition to the state pension.

B) Remove classes of NI. You pay the same rates on income whether PAYE or self-employed or salary drawings from ltd companies. Money from things which has CGT, Stamp Duty, dividends tax etc will remain the same - no NI just the tax is payable.

C) Abolish employers' NI contributions on behalf of employees.

You'd force people to eat food that's been dropped on the floor within 2 seconds? Seems a bit harsh!

A driving licence cull, for those who are inept, on your phone, wrong lane on roundabouts, MLM's, bald tyres, fog lights etc, anything that indicates you are an idiot on the road = Car crushed at roadside, banned from ever driving again & a bus pass issued for life.

Bring back the death penalty & public executions for multiple offenders, eg 3 counts & its a trip to the noose.

Put a stop to suspended sentencing.

Minor offences to be punished in "tons of" roadside rubbish collection.

Benefits for the long term unemployed work dodgers = public works
