I live in Berlin and work with a mix of European colleagues. When they, and particularly the French, take the piss out of British food (again), I just say "you're going home, tonight, to your wife. She will be cooking. Whose recipe book is she cooking from?". Normally works.
Thaks, Jamie!

I don't understand the ire either. He's got a positive outlook, produces different cooking options for different budgets, has tried to influence schools in a healthier direction, decent family bloke who has made some cash. I like him.
I like him too, I enjoy cooking and I enjoy his cooking programmes and I've got a couple of his cookbooks which I regularly use. Using Michelin stars as a metric for comparison and judgement is completely stupid, do you get out your Michel Roux Snr cookbook to knock up something tasty for the family in twenty minutes?
If you don't like his style then fair enough, but it doesn't make him a t
t.
What utterly bizarre thinking.

So would GR trade all his Michelin stars in for a few extra quid to make his net wealth greater than JO. No he wouldn’t. To GR, Michelin stars are worth more than money. If you don't like his style then fair enough, but it doesn't make him a t

(Just in case you misunderstood)
Whatever way you look at it he is an average lad done good and for some reason I’m this country we appear to hate success and have my throw stones at people. Sure not everything he has done is brilliant but maybe we should look at our own careers before criticising someone else’s. It’s easy to have a lofty measure for people you don’t know but then be quite happy to by bobbing along yourself.

^ That. Equally don't understand the fawning over Nigella on here, presumably it's because she's got a cracking pair on her, albeit counterweighted by the huge arse carefully kept out of camera shot.
I dislike him because he has given his children stupid names which is an incredibly selfish act.
Also, on the 'his recipes work' subject, surely that is down to the book editors and how much effort they put into testing and checking the recipes. I can't believe any celebrity chef recipe book has the weights and measures calculated by the chef themselves - they'll come up with the basic idea and ingredient list.

He's a t

What has Jamie Oliver actually achieved? Very little. He was a pot washer at the River Cafe and ran a bankrupt chain of crappy Italian resturants.
And which one is richer?

You must be living in Paradise if you have time to fret about the names of another family’s kids! What next - hate campaign for the neighbours because they bought their 5 year old a t-shirt in a colour you don’t like? Also, on the 'his recipes work' subject, surely that is down to the book editors and how much effort they put into testing and checking the recipes.
