Paris & Sharp - Aphrodite (samples the Gladiator soundtrack - and to aural perfection IMHO!)

The Badge by Poison Idea (and the Pantera cover) samples bits of the brothel shootout in Taxi Driver.

The Pantera version was later used on the soundtrack for The Crow.

2LiveCrew sampled Full Metal Jacket for their track Me So Horny

And The Skatalites used The Guns of Navarone theme for their track of the same name. Come to think of it they did a version of the James Bond Theme as well. The James Bond Theme was also used by Bruce Willis on the track Secret Agent Man from the Return of Bruno album.

In the mid '80s Mick Jones of The Clash had a solo project, I forget what it was called but one of the tracks sampled bits of Nick Roeg's 'Performance'.
Indeed - Big Audio Dynamite on the track E=MC2
Thanks - I couldn't for the life of me recall the band name! ''I don't think I'm gonna let you stay in the film business...'' wink

There's a tune Bukem played once or twice out that uses Newt from Aliens saying " She doesn't have bad dreams, she's just a piece of plastic." that I've been trying to ID for the last 25 years without success.

Any guesses?

The Avalanches' Frontier Psychiatrist samples from the John Waters movie 'Polyester' - ("is Dexter ill today?"). It also uses the line 'You're a nut, you're crazy in the coconut' which is actually from a Canadian duo's comedy sketch, something which I was quite disappointed to discover. I could have sworn it was Mel Brooks

Dreadzone's Little Britain uses a line from the film 'If...'

There are more but it's the sort of thing that will come back to me at 3 in the morning when I really should be sleeping

That whole album was full of film samples. Medicine Show especially, used loads of stuff from the Good Bad and the Ugly, great stuff.

Bloody good work mate! This thread is now doubly pleasing smile

Now if anyone can id that tape i had as a kid (with the afore mentioned "open the door sit in the seat turn the key and go" track on, as well as gold (feel the rush) etc - was a copy of a copy of a copy of probably a bass generator tape, with handwritten "rez" written on.
Sadly eaten by an aiwa walkman never to play again...

We should start a separate thread really....

Ok, so this challenge is a bit harder!
I’m guessing the open the door sampling tune would be Messiah - Temple of dreams (destroyer o.s.)?

https://youtu.be/Fsr25s5CMPo

Bass Generator is obviously the DJ, and Rezerection the event.
The Messiah tune came out mid 92.
So that helps narrow it down, can you think of any other tunes from that tape? The more the better!

It’s going to be a little out of my knowledge area as I didn’t follow the Scottish scene which had a lot of tunes that didn’t get played much down here, but I love a challenge biggrin

You sir, are a legend! I now have a window of 92-95 and a track - which is infinitely more googleable! I've found some hooky looking website selling mp3s of all the tape packs for a tenner, am sorely tempted!

This also beats my previous record of approx 17 years to identify mark b and blade - the unknown having heard it once in a club in Oxford. I think i last heard the full tape in maybe 1996 so that's 24 years!

Fun Lovin' Criminals - Scooby Snacks uses bits of Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs
Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky uses some of the final speech from Charlie Chaplin's the great dictator
Metallica - One, can't remember the film it samples, but that's one
Guns n Roses Madagascar uses samples of Martin Luther King speeches, though that's pushing your definition.
Metallica One samples Jonnhy Got His Gun.
