Although not a Spag Western Clint Eastwood's first film from his own production company Malpaso and made in 1968 using all his experience of the Spag Westerns "Hang 'Em High" is also worthy of mention if you haven't seen it. It tends to be a little forgotten about with the later Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter and the Outlaw Josey Wales often shown more on TV.
Two Mules for Sister Sara has a spaghetti feel about it as well.

Also ended up watching this the other night when it was on, I hadn't realised it was filmed in the south of Spain. Thinking about a visit to see where it was filmed when I'm there on the bike in May.

Both sets are still standing in Almeria Spain.
We took the lad to both of them - one is very touristy, the other (Fist full of Dollars ) was a lot better but it's name escapes me.
Typical dress up as a cowboy / wide the wagon type stuff, but still fun.

As usual the best of them does not get mentioned.

Except in the post just above yours... wink
And it's not even a. particularly good, and b. a spaghetti western - although IIRC Leone is the director.

The "Trinity" duet of films are worth a viewing with Bud Spencer in the title role together with Bud Spencer. Trinity is known as "the right hand of the devil".
I can't remember the last time they were shown on TV but they are on youtube.

They call me Trinity. 1970

Trinity is still my name. 1971

Don't know why but I didn't enjoy Once Upon A Time. Don't disagree with your opinion though.

Huge GBU fan here. People often misunderstand the story - it's not really about The Man With No Name. It's all about Tuco. He's the only character you learn anything about.

And the film skims the details about where the gold came from and how Carson got hold of it. There was a companion book written some time after the film which expands upon this.

Also, there's some lost/found footage of Tuco and his men at their camp before he ambushes TMWNN in the hotel ("There are two kinds of spurs"). It's all very fascinating for me.

As much as I respect what Clint has done for the film industry, I'd have loved to met Eli Wallach. He is on my fantasy dinner guests list. I reckon he'd have been a hoot. He was married to the same woman for decades too, in an industry where marriages often last merely minutes.

I didn't 'get' it first time I saw it, took a couple of repeat watches before it clicked.

One of the 'Dollar' westerns?

When I first saw GBU I couldn't understand why 'Colonel Mortimer' was now the bad guy!

As ever opinions like bums, I simply don't understand how anyone can not enjoy or be amazed by Once Upon a Time in the West.

But I never got on with Clockwork Orange, people rave about it. Not over enamoured with The Godfather, people rave about it. Most great films I "get", but some leave me cold.

As I say opinions are like well you know.

Hang em High and Two Mules are my favourite Eastwood Western movies, both brilliant !

I bought a box set of DVDs a few years ago that included 12 discs ... all the Eastwood Westerns and Spaghetti you can eat !

They were also in this.. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069697/

Watch out we're mad. A strange film which I first saw at a cinema and was the leading movie before a James Bond film, I think, possibly Diamonds are Forever. Anyway, if you like that sort of thing its worth a watch.

Totally agree, that particular scene is one of my favourite in all films.
Spencer and Hill especially in the Trinity films are superb unique double act.
Spencer’s top head hammer punches are beyond words......

I'm a fan of the genre but just couldn't get on with once upon a time. I turned it off part way through.
