Spaghetti Westerns

Although not a Spag Western Clint Eastwood's first film from his own production company Malpaso and made in 1968 using all his experience of the Spag Westerns "Hang 'Em High" is also worthy of mention if you haven't seen it. It tends to be a little forgotten about with the later Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter and the Outlaw Josey Wales often shown more on TV.
Two Mules for Sister Sara has a spaghetti feel about it as well.Huge GBU fan here. People often misunderstand the story - it's not really about The Man With No Name. It's all about Tuco. He's the only character you learn anything about.
And the film skims the details about where the gold came from and how Carson got hold of it. There was a companion book written some time after the film which expands upon this.
Also, there's some lost/found footage of Tuco and his men at their camp before he ambushes TMWNN in the hotel ("There are two kinds of spurs"). It's all very fascinating for me.
As much as I respect what Clint has done for the film industry, I'd have loved to met Eli Wallach. He is on my fantasy dinner guests list. I reckon he'd have been a hoot. He was married to the same woman for decades too, in an industry where marriages often last merely minutes.

I do think the three Eastwood films, and Once Upon A Time In The West, are way superior to all other films in the genre.
Don't know why but I didn't enjoy Once Upon A Time. Don't disagree with your opinion though.Watchman said:

When I first saw GBU I couldn't understand why 'Colonel Mortimer' was now the bad guy!
I came across this location video for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly recently. It's superb:

As ever opinions like bums, I simply don't understand how anyone can not enjoy or be amazed by Once Upon a Time in the West.
But I never got on with Clockwork Orange, people rave about it. Not over enamoured with The Godfather, people rave about it. Most great films I "get", but some leave me cold.
As I say opinions are like well you know.

The "Trinity" duet of films are worth a viewing with Bud Spencer in the title role together with Bud Spencer. Trinity is known as "the right hand of the devil".
I can't remember the last time they were shown on TV but they are on youtube.
They call me Trinity. 1970
Trinity is still my name. 1971
Those were brilliant movies as well ... have them on dvd somewhereI can't remember the last time they were shown on TV but they are on youtube.

The Trinity films are sheer class. The Poker scene then bar slapping never tire of watching.
"Spaghetti western", highly concentrated, then condensed into ten minutes. It doesn't get better than this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahwJF5AcsGA

Spencer and Hill especially in the Trinity films are superb unique double act.
Spencer’s top head hammer punches are beyond words......
