Die Hard is a Xmas night staple but the book it is based on is better.

So it has to be Predator; it's the best Arnie pic and even more quotable than Aliens.

This stuff will make you a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me

I must have seen all those on the list too many times to count and I could still watch them any time they are on.

Out of Aliens/Predator/Terminator I don't think you can even split these as they are stand out films in their own right.

If I had to pick one it would be have to be the most memorable for me which is Predator, as I can basically quote the whole film line for line and it has the best mix of sci-fi/action.

Top Gun and Die Hard although good just don't stick like the other 3, Rambo even less.

I had to go with Top Gun, while thinking about it the new Aldi advert appeared on tv so that swayed my choice.

Ah but it did lead to Hot Shots which is a film I can watch over an over again. Sadly void for this thread as it came out in 91.

Nice to see someone else mention Beverly Hill Cop, what about Lethal Weapon!!!??

Die Hard gets my vote.

Saw the the title of the thread, Commando instantly popped in my head.....disappointed it wasn't on the list!

However, so many great films from that era.

If Matrix was here he'd be disappointed too.

First Blood is brilliant but more of a drama than an action film, Top Gun is good but I've never felt the desire to watch it more than a few times. The remainder however I know almost word for word and could never tire of, making it an almost impossible choice. In the end I went for Aliens, since it's not only the perfect action film, but the perfect sequel as well.

Best film: Aliens

One I rewatch most: Die Hard

So, Die Hard it is.

I have a rule that if Die Hard (or any of the sequels) is on TV then I have to watch it.

Predator but why no Escape from NY or Tango and Cash or Lethal Weapon?

tough choice between Aliens, Predator and Die Hard.

Aliens just edges it though.

An excellent point, but would have made voting more or less impossible.

One of the few 80s action films that I don’t think I’ve seen. So that’s why it’s not on my list, perhaps....
