What's the criteria for owning (and getting away with) such clothing?
It's the normal 'dress-down' rig for all Army officers here! Practically standard issue!

Socks are also important, nice bright red or a stripes work well.

S'right.

Sitting at my desk in an office in the provinces, the boss said, "Get up to London for this meeting".

I said I would have to go home and change into a suit. He said go as your are. I responded that one does not go up to Town dressed like a Rhodesian farmer. "I may meet someone I know!!"

Don't try and justify "pink" with charming euphemisms like "Salmon".

Some of the old duffers round our way wear the plum jobbies for the yachtsman look, they sell them in the chandlery shops.

Mrs H thinks I should have chunky green corduroy.
