there was applause in mine too, at one place, and maybe at another...I can't recall the last time I experienced that at the pics.
I genuinely think this is a Star Wars moment that we will look back on in 20-30 years etc. Regardless of where the MCU goes next, a 22 movie story arc that by and large is full of hits is incredible and is unlikely to be repeated.
I'm not even a blockbuster movie kinda guy but the MCU has completely absorbed me, I've not felt that much genuine excitement and anticipation going into a movie for a long, long time (if ever).
WHAT. A. FILM.
There was a specific point where I involuntarily shouted YES and punched the air. I was the first but not the only one who did this!!
I need to see it again.
My strategy was nothing drink all afternoon so I made it through. Our cinema was also silent. I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for a film as I was waiting for that to start. I genuinely believe that will be something I look back on in 30 years time. What a moment.

Was too tired to post last night, still tired now! Worth it.
A fitting end to the story I reckon, one or two
moments (Females Assemble) was one of them.
Dr Strange let me down, one of my favourite characters and I thought he would play a more pivotal role in the proceedings. I thought more characters would die too.
Oh, and Bannerhulk was weird too

Only thing that still grates for me, is that they have Tony’s nanosuit tech which can turn anything into anything, magic suits that come out of a button and alien tech, god tech and a talking bloody rabbit.
Yet Rhodey still has some w
ky external leg stuff so he can walk.
This bothered me too but I think they've handled the massively varying tech and power differences between the characters really well, generally speaking. Hawkeye and Black Widow could easily have been lost in a movie of this size and scope, but that certainly wasn't the case.Yet Rhodey still has some w
ky external leg stuff so he can walk. Anyhow, those are issues with the original medium and I don't think going too deep on those sort of issues is what the film is about. There are also some fairly fundamental glaring issues with the time travel rules in the film (in so much as they break the rules they clearly set out), but again it doesn't really matter.

I'm just glad that I can talk about the film with PH folks online now!!! I'm pretty confident everyone knows which scene resulted in the audience clapping and cheering, it's one of the best bits of the film. Thor was also quite amazing in it, with the highs and low's for him,
The single scene towards the end is soooo forced down your throat.

I’m actually surprised only two of us mentioned or noticed this. I’m actually very liberal, but even I rolled my eyes at this.
I too am surprised that a bigger deal hasn’t been made of it here. I have nowhere near the level of issues with these things that many do here (I love The Last Jedi, hell I quite enjoyed the new Ghostbusters!) but it was incredibly jarring. They kinda did it in Infinity War too though (4 women fighting), but that felt a little more organic than this, which was ridiculously forced and shoe-horned in. robemcdonald said:

It was like a giant “thank you” to us fans. I might have a more balanced view after I’ve had a few days to think about it, but right now that’s the best cinema experience I can remember.
I don’t have an issue with them doing it, but to me it felt very forced. Knowing how the Russos work they were probably forced into it and decided to do it in a jarring way as a mini protest.
It didn’t spoil the movie, but it felt out of step with everything before or after. Like it was written and directed by someone else and simply inserted in.

Never seen all 7 screens sold out three nights in a row. But as a Cineworld card member how does that work for revenues
Never managed to get a clear answer on this. I pay £144 a year and see 70+ films, so there is no way Odeon are handing over £6.50 or whatever to the distributor. My local Odeon said more people now attend on Limitless cards than normal paying punters. Cinemas have massively cut costs in recent years. When I was there we had on a busy night 4 in the ticket office, 4-6 in the kiosk, and probably 6-8 on the floor (for 6 screens) seating people and cleaning screens, plus 2 projectionists and 2 management. The ticket office has all but gone, there will be 1-2 people on the floor and a couple in the kiosk. Projection is automated now and digital so no need for a projectionist to fix a broken reel.
Anyway the film. I am booked in 10:30 tomorrow in 3D. Going with my daughter (10 yr). We have been watching all the Marvel stuff together for a while now. Nice to do things together especially as in a couple of years she will be a full teenager and wont want to know me. Really looking forward to it.

I used to work in a cinema, Virgin, when they were the first to bring these cards out. We almost didn't get Mission Impossible 2 because the distributors suddenly kicked up a fuss about these cards. The cinema will be paying the distributors close to full amount per person using those cards. The cinemas make so little on ticket sales anyway. That's why the sweets are stuff are expensive, all the money comes from that. £2 for a bucket of coke that costs them about 2p.
That's really interesting thanks, I know a lot of Odeons have reduced regular tickets to a fiver but ours is still £13.50 as there is no competition in the area. I'm probably screwing my cinema over big time as I'd never buy drinks/popcorn, I just grab a Costa on the way in (although I think Odeon are franchisees, the same staff go between the cinema and coffee shop). I actually typed out a similar sentence when I first made my comment after I saw the film but deleted it. Nothing against having a scene like that but make it feel more organic and natural instead of just forcing it.
When Ironman 1 was released I use to work in a cinema while I was a student.
This may be mentioned in the post above can't remember but for the majority of cinemas the money is made from food/drink sales. A bag of popcorn use to cost my previous employer about 4 pounds, a small popcorn that used may 5% of that bag cost 5 pounds.
A tub of Ben & Jerries ice cream was circa 20 pounds to buy, selling 5 individual scopes of ice cream from that tub used maybe 15% of its quantity but recovered the initial purchase cost. Even adding on the cost of staff/rent/utilities used to serve those items your still making a large profit when viewed against the purchase price.
Anyway, back to the film. I'm hoping to go back and watch it again soon. I expect there were a lot of finer details that I missed out on the first time round.
