Snobs in Birmingham has been going for many a year. Big Wednesdays with 50p shots is what i remember.
I spent many a night in there in the nineties.

Tough call between Turnmills and The Cross but both proper clubber's clubs although a certain someone who shall remain nameless (and is no doubt reading this thread) will disagree hehe

Shame that fking sthole Ministry is still going, Palumbo is an utter knob.

The Egg had a good vibe for a while when The Cross shutdown, now it's just full of coked up birds scratching eachother's eyes out. No thanks.

How could I forget!!

...and Moles. I paid a tenner once for a lifetime membership to moles...

Classy...
Although Moles is a lot better since they moved the lavatories downstairs - the loos were directly over the stage, and always used to flood, leaking piss all over the act who were performing that night. Definitely a toilet venue. wink

Oh yes. I saw Big Audio Dynamite there last year.

(And I wasn't the oldest baldy there, either!)

Wobble in Brum used to be great, as was The Dial in Derby. Both now long gone.

Birmingham late 90s, stoodi bakers, then on to Bakers on 5 ways. Tuesday nights was Jelly Baby and iirc, republic on a Saturday was Dave pearce and others.

Then at 4am, off to Wobble iirc near the Jewelry quarter with its suspended floor. And if the wheels had really fallen off the West End Bar under west mids police hq opened at 6 am. Very messy. And sundissential at pulse. On Sunday afternoon. Q club? Atomic jam?

Can you remember where wobble was? I seem to remember in arches somewhere out the Jewelry quarter, but memory of those days is very sketchy.

Club Troppo at the Gosford Leagues Club.

You could tell who the underage girls were from the dirty knees on their white jeans...

Pure class.

Which nightclub in Blackburn or Burnley burnt down killing some clubbers?

Branston St in Hockley. It was in what appeared to be an old factory of some kind IIRC, though my memories are sketchy.

Good times.

I too have a confession. I used to design nightclubs.

In fact I was on the original design team that brought Zanzibar to Newcastle under Lyme, where the OP met his wife.

I was early 20's, we did a lot of "research", we also attended every opening night within about 200 miles.

If it was st, tacky and OTT, it was probably one of ours!
That's just cool, in a tacky way. Nice thing to have on the CV!

I still go to the club I frequented in Poole twenty odd years ago. I can't remember what it was called then, but it's a kids' soft play now paperbag

Still there, renamed Club Chemistry. Think it's still owned by the same family as it was in the BaaBaas/Works and whatever the other floor was called.
Ah cool.
What happened to the club that was here? https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=nightclubs+canter...

The Venue?

Was that the one at Tower park?

If so, I went there for my 18th which was 1997. I organised a minibus from Salisbury and was found passed out in a bush next to it at closing time smile

I vaguely recall wearing a black silk shirt with white polka dots..... Unsurprisingly I failed to pull at all smile

The shame frown

The one I'm thinking of was the one at tower park, we used to get on the minibus from Salisbury too.

More than likely smile

At one stage I mooched over to a young lady that looked suitably desperate and inebriated, and as I opened my mouth to slur one of my less rapey chat up lines she simply looked at me and said........

"Don't bother"

smile

Never has a put down been delivered to such devastating effect.
