Go Fishing with the late John Wilson, always a programme i loved, back in the day on Channel Four/Anglia TV. It corresponded with the period when I started to fish hence the fond memories of it. Although it was a lot more about fishing than Mortimer and Whitehouse he still had appreciation for nature, wildlife and his surroundings which he regularly conveyed.

I was never in to fishing but used to watch ‘Go Fishing’ with John Wilson. I always remember how pissed off he was when he dropped a fish on his rod and it snapped! hehe

The story about Bob's father just now took me by surprise. I loved the way he could talk about it with such humour. cry

There's always the danger that a new series might lose the magic but that was brilliant.

Can someone remind me where Bob's hat is from please? I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread but I couldn't spot it, sorry.

Found it

"I've just ordered a Bob Mortimer hat. Stetson Fairway Bucket Hat if anyone wants to search it. Cant guarantee that's the same one but it certainly looks like it".

Was tonight’s episode the new series, or a repeat? From the planner summary it looked like the visit to the Tweed in the last series...

New series. Series 3. They went back the Tweed because Bob didn't catch a salmon previously and they wanted to put that right.

Lovely. Made me wistful to get out with my fishing buddy, but fear it'll be a while 'til we can.

Good tele, but I have to say that I felt for big Gavin the Boatman, his heart must have been in his mouth with every cast that Bob made !!
