I've not seen Endgame yet so I can't comment on the scene in that film but the "girl power" thing is something that has been building in Hollywood for a while now and it was inevitable that Endgame would get some of it. I have no problem with it tbh as long as it's handled with subtlety and doesn't overpower the movie

The Last Jedi's handling of it was dire and was one of the reasons the film was so awful.

Infinity War had a girl power scene but I thought it was handled pretty well and didn't bring me out of the movie

Captain Marvel the movie itself wasn't bad with it either tbh, I don't remember any particular scene where I thought, they've shoehorned that in to make a political statement. Unfortunately the marketing of the film was nowhere near as subtle with the girl power message too strongly emphasised in the media campaigns, the film already has a strong female role model, let the movie do the talking FFS. The controversy surrounding Brie Larson mouthing off unnecessarily made it even worse too.

I'll wait to see the Endgame to comment on that but people reporting that it's rather jarring is a bit disturbing.

Maybe you should think about spoilers tags^^^

Not a major issue, but some are quite sensitive.

Was that aimed at my post? Can't see how I've spoiled anything, I haven't even seen the film yet! Also other people have been talking about thise on the previous page, without going into specifics I might add.

hehe
THey tried that, and it was the first solid gold Marvel stinker.
Having said that, the Eternals film is currently filming.

They've already got dates locked in for a few years so I'm sure they will start officially announcing new films once the Endgame run has finished.

I'm sure they would have sat on Spider-Man promotion for a bit longer if they had more control over that side of things.

They showed a Spiderman trailer before Avengers last night. As you say, they should have held back on that until after End Game had been out for a couple of weeks.

Yep there are already confirmed plans for phase 4 of the MCU doing the rounds which do rather spoil things for Endgame tbh.

They should have. We all knew who was coming back because of the announced sequels.

Not seen a Spider-Man trailer yet.

Holy...

Endgame opened 86% higher in the UK than Infinity War, earning $15.3m in a single day.

It could get close to being the first film to crack $1b in the opening weekend.

WHAT?!?! I normally say that everyone’s opinion is valid, but in this case they’re just plain wrong.

What a way to go out.

Not sure how any cineamatic ‘journey’ across so many films can ever top this. Felt a bit once in a lifetime.

Spiderman is 100% financed by Sony, so I imagine Disney/Marvel don't have any say in how or when the film is promoted. Interestingly the Sony/Disney/Marvel Studios agreement for Spiderman to appear in the MCU was for 5 films, so Far From Home is currently the last confirmed appearance of Spidey in the MCU proper.

Don’t worry Disney will buy Sony pictures before too long.

I thought that was gonna happen a few years ago, when SOny was in the stpit, and it's parent was looking to flog it. But perversely, the success of SPider-Man has helped it rejuvenate after the hugely awful cack implosion of Ghostbusters. I don't see Disney being able to purchase Sony now, it has enough of a headache with Fox, which has made Bob Iger postpone (maybe indefinitely) his presidential run.
midnight edge has some decent vids on SOny, and they are pushing ahead full steam with their spider-verse...ergh

Which without marvels involvement will be as successful as DCEU.

Marvel will regain all its characters eventually.

O/T, but also relevant.

Don’t worry if you haven’t seen Endgame, this is not a spoiler.

Go to Google
Search for Thanos
On the results, click the gauntlet on the right hand side.
Snap.
