Or that he's not telling the truth again? Perhaps he's off again to visit the troops

Just a reminder of his shutdown. trump did say "I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not going to blame you for it." Except of course he's trying to do just that

House Democrats have prepared six bills that would reopen the government. They plan to pass all of them on Thursday night. It is then up to the Trump and the Republican Party to do their jobs, for once. It does not include any funding for a wall.

Well this is strange, the Obamas wall is nothing like trump described - almost as he was lying...

How happy the Secret Service must be that this is even a discussion.

speaking earlier of Manafort - Trump-linked businesses loaned $13M to a shell corporation created by Paul Manafort on the day he left the campaign

So now Trump has decided to have a barbed comment at "failed Generals" in relation to Syria.

Now having worked a lot with the US mil over the past 5 years there is one thing compared to the UK you do not is slag down its military and not expect friction from it. Especially if you have not served which of course he has not.

War and battles are not like business which he has experience in. When business goes wrong you file for bankruptcy and then start again. War is not as easy as that which is why to comment like he does on people that would have had over 30 years experience in conflict which isnt exactly like running some resort or hotel is a bit cheap.

As I have said many times before, Trump's forté is making sworn enemies out of people who should really be staunch allies. He's "headin' for a spreadin" as they say.

Just to finish 2018 with a back track, trump has now said the troops will withdraw from Syria slowly, not in 30 days as he demanded two weeks ago

Military planners have said they need about 120 days, or four months, to carry out a withdrawal that allows time to decide which equipment to move elsewhere in the region, leave behind with allies or disable to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Syrian government or Russia or Iran.

Oh come on, what do the military know about moving large bodies of men and equipment across continents???? They should listen to their Commander In Chief who is much more astute in military logistics!

I am sure when you are a leader of a country, you have advisors to ADVISE on certain matters before you open your mouth?

Several months ago CBS News reported that White House Communications Director Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her Deputy Raj Shah were both planning to resign before the end of the year.

Be interesting to see if they are still there? Apparently both are struggling to find jobs...

Having seen her on the evening TV news countless times, I wouldn't employ her either.

Well going by your massive input to this topic of which there is possibly enough evidence to jail him, it appears that he doesn't regard the truth as being important

To be fair, she’s done what she was required to do under very difficult circumstances. I’m not saying she’s a nice person or anything but she’s been very adept at deflecting and dissimulation.

She's had more experience than Hercules at clearing shyte out of the stables, however, she's allowed herself to become permanently tainted & has shown a propensity for lies in proportion to her overlord.

She's absolutely useless. The problem though is not really her but the White House Press Corps who are far too craven because they don't want to lose their White House press credentials. When one does try to stand up (Jim Acosta) you can see the reaction of the White House so I can see where they are coming from.

The best solution to these farcical Press Briefings would be for the Press Corps to adopt a united front and to just boycott them.

Unfortunately, she will have just missed peak Panto season!

(She'd be great playing the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. "She's behind you" "Ohh no she'd not" etc etc)

I said the same thing on here when it happened, but the glamour of a job on the Hill clearly far outweighs any sense of principle those preening popinjays might once have had.
