Why is it that the criticism works like this

1. Complain about female characters.

2. Call Aaron Paul “Jesse”, because he’s not allowed to ever play any other character ever.

It’s a bit tedious. If you don’t like a programme don’t watch it. It isn’t difficult. The constant moaning is like watching bunch of Star Wars nerds get all upset that so Rome’s light sabre was the wrong colour.

Programmes change, they develop and not always to everyone’s liking. It seems like all people want is season one to be rehashed over and over. Of course if they did that then they’d complain that it’s going nowhere and there’s a whole outside world to explore and so on.
The thing is, if you read an online forum about something such as a tv show you can’t expect it to be only positive.

Why do people search out forums and then get upset when people don’t agree or share their view?

The best thing to do is start a new thread called ‘west world discussion, no criticism or negative talk please.’

No one here has come and said I haven’t watched it blah blah blah. People have watched it and are giving an opinion. This isn’t YouTube you can’t just censor what you don’t like.

So, what did you enjoy about the series? Maybe share those views?

I’ve already shared my views several weeks / months ago, as the series was on. I was one of the few who had anything positive to say. You will choose to read that a certain way, I’ll read it another way. Both points noted above are consistent, particularly the “OMG there’s a female character, who isn’t subservient to a man. I can’t cope with it”

Ok, you are searching for some sort of argument. Got you.

Well I liked the future cars and the drug episode was different.

It doesn’t take much effort to read back two or three pages to see my views. Little point repeating them all, as you and others don’t like the show. Here’s the one key point though. The first series was just as challenging in terms of timelines, strange characters and strong female characters. However, it was new and caught a lot of people off guard as it was so left field with a lot of the plot lines. People accepted that, but were equally offended that they didn’t work it all out instantly. They demand to know what’s happening before its happening. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice and so on.

The series is very confusing at times, it’s difficult to work it out in advance, but that’s what I like. I enjoy being along for the ride, rather than having to solve everything all the time.

I’ve just watched the final two episodes and whilst it wasn’t perfect, it was better than most of the dross which is on TV nowadays. I’ve seen multiple timelines mentioned on here a few times but I must’ve missed them as it all seemed to me to be happening at the same time?

Only a few flashbacks I think, this time. Not the “keep people guessing when this scene is taking place” stuff from previous seasons.

Finally finished it.... it was (it has to be said) a bit of a slog. Some truly sumptuous visuals but a world populated by very unsympathetic characters

Is it really worth sticking with Series 3?

Honestly, savour Season One and pretend Seasons Two and Three never happened.

I’m finally getting around to S3. It’s maybe a bit too different to 1 and 2. More of a stand alone cyberpunk noir. On that basis I do like it.

On that basis it works pretty well, I guess. I think they peaked with S1 (still some of my favourite TV ever) and had no idea how to match it, ultimately. Tried to be overly clever in S2 and keep people guessing but in doing so, forgot about a good story. Then started anew with S3. S4 is due in 2022 apparently...

Are they actually filming S4? I'd be amazed if it goes ahead.

Yeah, I was having a look this morning. On the Westworld wiki, someone commented that they were somewhere in the grand canyon area and saw them filming in September.

That was exactly my take on it, brilliant visuals, but the rest of it was a bit 'meh'.

They did the Christopher Nolan thing with it - start off with some really great viewing before slowly descending into confusing the st out of you but distracting you with nice visuals.

I'll try searching for it again. I couldn't find it the last time I checked on Sky.

Cheers
