What does 'Sports Car Club' smell of?

I'm imagining cracked leather seat mixed with tweed cap and a whiff of hair oil.
I'm no expert at all just go with "what I like", and I like it. It's also British racing green (ish) and has a cool bottle.

Champagne showers. Chequered flags. Our champion scent wrestles pink pepper-sharp hairpins. Eucalyptus roars over fresh-cut grass. A full-throttle fougère of patchouli and woods if ever there was one!
I was hoping for Castrol R and hot brakes. Oh well, never mind.

With TEV, those of you who have the genuine item (or good experience of) and also have the TEV version - what TEV scents do you recommend in terms of scent & performance versus the original?

Aventus I wasn’t that keen on and some of the lesser reviewed ones don’t quite cut it - but Viking, Green Irish Tweed and Neroli Portifino are good value for money.
Wearing TEV Santal today, my Itlain female colleague asked me if I was wearing Le Labo - I had never heard of them but they make Santal 33 so I good sign I guess

I'd say the TEV versions of Green Irish Tweed and Neroli Portofino are pretty spot on.

Interesting commentary there, because I wear genuine GIT.

So thats a good start!

Anyone got real Oud Wood and the TEV version?

Interesting, I got Neroli and Creed from TEV, to my nose the Creed clone is awful, and the Neroli is okay but not THAT close to the original that I have.

But it's maybe my nose, which is a little weird.

I tried them a good few years ago and found them really chemical feeling (if that’s a thing), perhaps a bad reaction to my skin but I’d rather just buy a 10ml off someone like Tom than buy these clones.

Parfums Vintage that I did a split on with Funk is the only clone I’d ever consider but they’re not exactly cheap compared to The Essence Vault.

Have to say, sometimes you only get quality when you pay for it; TToLG applied this morning around 8am and it's still clearly evident even now at 6pm - that's some excellent longevity. Most other scents have all but faded by lunchtime.

If anyone else wants to do a split on something expensive, I still have several 50ml atomisers available. I'd be happy work out an 'uneven split' on price working on the basis I'd decant half but would get to keep the bottle and box.

Edit: I'd take a punt on a Sports Car Club with someone but I wouldn't splash £152 on a full 100ml bottle without a whiff first. Could split £87 (me) / £65 (you) with me keeping the bottle & box? This is the plastic atomiser:

Mentioned in an earlier post - Penhaligon's 'The Tragedy of Lord George'. I just shortened it in the last post as I guess most would either know or work it out from my post earlier this afternoon. smile

Which Creed, Alex?

Regardless though, this illustrates the variance of nose to nose.

You and me align on a lot of stuff, so tell me, what's your favourite fragrances?

Derp, I should have said, it's Aventus.

Aventus, Oud Wood, Neroli Portofino and Bleu de Chanel are the four I have on rotation.

The Chanel used to be my favourite, until someone I know who works in No 10 told it it's what Johnson wears vomit

I tried the TEV stuff because the prices were making me wince, but I think I'll just have to deal with it.

Want me to stick a couple of ml of Parfums Vintage's take on Aventus (Emperor Extrait) in one of the sampler atomisers and send to you? It's dearer than TEV but it is an excellent clone. Drop me a message if so and I'll sort it out for you.

Oud Wood is an interesting one. Gets a lot of praise online from the female YouTubers etc, yet I've worn on many occasions and don't think I've ever once had a compliment (unlike with other fragrances - Aventus, Y etc).

BdC is such a great all round fragrance. I currently have the EdT but I think the EdP is better (slightly smoother if that makes sense). I had a tester of the Parfum version and for me that's the best/classiest version (a lot more expensive than EdT though).

Neroli Portofino - clean and soapy fragrance. Had it as a sample. It's nice, but I don't think it's worth the TF ++price so am happy with the TEV version.

Today I've been wearing TF Grey Vetiver. Not worn it much since purchase but finding it a good fresh summer fragrance.

Good fragrance, but I would say suiting a slightly older chap as it's very barbershop (so not especially youthful IMVHO). Have been complimented on wearing it at work.

Great bottle too. biggrin

If Boris Johnson wears Bleu de Chanel it must be a panty dropper indeed.
