E46 M3 Stance Project

It's just a form of modified, in the same way a stripped out track car is different from a car that's had wide arches, a big install and full interior rebuild. It all a form of modifying, this thread kind of shows where the whole modified car scene has gone so wrong over the last few years. Instead of people accepting different tastes and styles its all become very b

The only element of stancing, modifying etc, that I struggle with, is when it means a car isn't fit for the purpose of driving anymore. Running so much camber that the tyre tread no longer touches the tarmac, or broken welded diffs that must be awful on a road car. It's funny how defensive some folk get about the whole broken welded diff thing too, should you dare to suggest it ruins a cars handling. That said, it's their car and their choice but posting on any forum invited comment. You can disagree without being disagreeable though.

That has just made me cry.

Can I just ask what in particular looks stupid about them? Is it the the wheel or the tyre choice?
For me it is two reasons: 1)the wheel is too wide for the bodywork, and 2) the tyres are a lot narrower than the wheel; adding unsprung weight for the sake of looks in this way just seems plain stupid.e21Mark said:

Personally I quite like a subtle stretch of the tyre wall. It's nothing new anyway, but I think it gets attached to the drift, stance and JDM ting'.
Love the TVR by the way.
in the forfour world we have next to zero wheel choice 4 x 114.3 so normally, multi stud is the only option.
once his car is lower, it will look much better but modding is a step by step thing and in the world of cars that cost £3k to buy, £1000 on suspension is a big step.
tbh, he's been more interested in pushign the engine mods...... hybrid turbo set up and then mapped from scratch by tony at tune4performance.
currently running 220bhp in a 1000kg car and the boost is sustained until the limiter.
its pretty crazy
we have a great time as its such a very small community - 274 brabus forfours in the UK currently (max was 287 which is pretty good going if you ask me!!)

I personally love a good deep concave multi spoke wheel, and a subtle stretch is fine by me too. I've seen some rediculous stretches in my time, but not too much looks fine to me.
Love the reasons given for not liking the forfour pictured! The rim protector being pointless? Park with a bit more care and you won't need a rim protector!
I would much prefer the wheel/tyre being flush with the arch, or maybe a tiny protrusion, rather than the wheels sitting inches back from the arch. Looks weedy to me

Then why buy and fit tyres with a rim protector?Love the reasons given for not liking the forfour pictured! The rim protector being pointless? Park with a bit more care and you won't need a rim protector!

Have them flush with the arch and what happens when the suspension goes down? It hits the arch. The solution is to fit rock hard suspension so everyone can laugh at you as you bounce your way down the M1.
