Avengers: Endgame
Discussion
Just back from watching. Really enjoyed it, cinema was packed out, usual crisps, popcorn rustling noises all the way through.....then an eerie silence. You could have heard a pin drop. People with a mouth full of snacks simply stopped chewing. I think food must have been dropping out of people's mouths - epic cinema

My son went to see it, at one point they were sure they heard the sound of a grown man crying following a certain bit.
There is a very emotional bit regarding parents and children and the element of 'buying all the cheeseburgers you want'That bit made me well up..guess if you have kids it hits you in the feels
Honestly I found it a bit meh, just felt like a normal predictable superhero movie. All those guys who you thought died come back and save the day, horray. I enjoyed infinity war more as it was so unexpected and unprecedented.
Also all the speculation of Iron Man, Cap, etc contracts coming to an end and therefore being killed off/written out kinda ruined it too.

Correction: it was iSense, which is odeon’s ‘almost IMAX’. I’m so used to referring to it as IMAX with friends that I forget it’s not actually the same thing.
That's as bad as calling your 320d Msport an M car. randomeddy said:

Lots of tears in the showing I saw today, from many people. I just about held it together, but it really does pull at the heart strings. It’s one of the best films I have ever seen.

$1.2b opening weekend. Absolutely bonkers, even with a massive second weekend drop it's surely got to pass Titanic into the second biggest of all time.
Wholly moly. I checked this morning before the gym,and the boxoffice page was 600 odd million, just behind that Chinese film.https://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4507&p=...
wish I'd taken a pic now, I saw your post and thought, WTH.
It's been updated!
wowsers, hollywood won't be able to best this for years. I saw all the one day, records went, and just about every other one. Glad I picked it for number one now
I also see CM has pipped 1.1bill
The fact that’s it’s there and hasn’t even been out a full week.
Insane.
Booked again to go see it again with the family.
My kid was begging me to see it in IMAX 3D so managed to secure tickets for next Saturday. I hate 3D but will endure it for this movie. If any movie deserves a repeat viewing it is this one as there is just so much to process, us oldies will find it much more difficult than the youngsters in that respect.

Both my nearest imax cinemas are only showing the 3D version. I’m not sure I could stick 3 hours of 3D without getting a blinding migraine.
I then looked at Cineworld VIP, which is just the regular 2D film (non-iMax) with super-duper seating and all you can eat food and drink thrown in. £32.50 per ticket but every showing for next weekend was already sold out.

Went a second time this evening, I actually enjoyed it more as I could take it all in better.
I held it together first time around but as a parent the cheeseburger broke me tonight.
Its because people are so invested after 22 films. I had tears at the start when Tony was reunited with the gang. Then the final bits of Tony and Howard. And the whole cheese burger scene got me. Its the first film thats made me have man tears since Baloo nearly died I held it together first time around but as a parent the cheeseburger broke me tonight.

It terms of process what I'd just watched, it was very much like the Red Wedding in GoT. We just sat in silence for 10 minutes, processing what had just happened.

Do we think the heroes will get resurrected??
End of the day the character is a big sell for the mcu and the post credit noise is that something to think about going forward
Nah. I can't see the one who died at the end being resurrected. That character is finished now. The good thing about Marvel is that characters can be passed on to other people. Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson have both been Captain America, Pepper Potts has been (sort of) Iron Man, etc etcEnd of the day the character is a big sell for the mcu and the post credit noise is that something to think about going forward
The MCU has the luxury of being able to kill people.
