Great picture and I’m so glad the 131 Sport is still appreciated as a great car 45 years since its launch. I also
Like that Avenger Tiger in the background.
Yes, that's a great photo - and I love the Avenger Tiger! Like that Avenger Tiger in the background.

Me as well, looks good, also RWD hatch and never owned one, back in the time when I had a RS2000 mk2 and also my then best friend had one, his brothers friend owned such Talbot Lotus Sunbeam, which was I guess a bit more expensive then second hand then the RS2000? or more rare? maybe thats why around that time I never had one, also no Internet back then to find one easy.GTRene said:

None of the blue Series 2 cars were sold in the Netherlands.

Great info, no wonder I only new 1 and spotted maybe 2 others those days in the 80-tish, never knew the small headlights and the 'normal examples, just looked those up, makes some difference.

GUL 514W What became of you ??
A very original factory black example It’s seen here in summer 1995 as found in Autotrader in Hertfordshire. I gave the seller circa £500 quid for it. It came with a Brand New OE Fiat drivers door as well. The original door was absolutely rotten in the middle of the door !
It had been suplied new by Radbourne Racing of Wimbledon.
After a while I stuck an advert for it in Motoring News for £550 inc the door …..
A guy came and viewed it and bought lt on the spot, saying that he “ was going to fit a Cossy engine in it…..”
Sadly I never heard from him again and it seems to have disappeared. I reckon he broke it up…..
An acquaintance bought a V registered Grey one of these in circa 1982, it went well and I can still recall it’s cool
glove box lid that slid sideways…..

I could never understand how an undamaged panel could rust on a car from the centre.

Did the mk1 or mk2 Rs2000 have a lsd or was it only
An extra ? I had a mk2 but don’t remember about the diff ( it was easy to slide so maybe it had one)
LSD wasn't standard on Mk1 or Mk.2.An extra ? I had a mk2 but don’t remember about the diff ( it was easy to slide so maybe it had one)
It was optional extra cost factory option on the Mk.1, but never on the Mk.2 (was a dealer fit option only on the Mk.2)
LSD (finis code 905 0828) is listed as an aftermarket item ("suitable for all Escorts, Cortina I and II") in the (Ford RS) Rallye Sport Parts Catalogue together with a host of other rear axle goodies and service parts.
The May 1981 Domestic Dealer Price List confirms a retail price excluding VAT for said LSD of £170.84.

A reverse image search on Google only comes up with that same image, which was posted on Facebook in January 2021.
I would have thought that if anyone took that on as a restoration project, it would have been all over Google.
As has been suggested in a previous post, I suspect it was used for the VIN plate and that was that.
It is weird as I remember seeing 5 or 6 photos of it around that time, I believe the garage it was stored in collapsed and it was left open to the elements for years, just cannot find anything else on it now. I would have thought that if anyone took that on as a restoration project, it would have been all over Google.

Perspex covers over the lights ? I can't remember them being available as an aftermarket accessory. Home made ?Have to say the headlights were so good on the Mk2 RS2000s ( tended to run 100W bulbs in them on a relay ) you didn’t need to take the covers off

Ripspeed did them too ( bottom right of advert ) for a princely sum

for those Talbot Lotus sunbeam fans, there was a new ad a RHD this rime with 230hp rally car for the road I believe, that must have cost way more then the price asked?
