Great picture and I’m so glad the 131 Sport is still appreciated as a great car 45 years since its launch. I also
Like that Avenger Tiger in the background.
Yes, that's a great photo - and I love the Avenger Tiger! thumbup
Does anyone have any experience of owning an Avenger Tiger.
Never seen such I believe, just looked it up, looks like a classic Opel Kadett rallye :-)

Much rather have the one on the right wink
Me as well, looks good, also RWD hatch and never owned one, back in the time when I had a RS2000 mk2 and also my then best friend had one, his brothers friend owned such Talbot Lotus Sunbeam, which was I guess a bit more expensive then second hand then the RS2000? or more rare? maybe thats why around that time I never had one, also no Internet back then to find one easy.

If you were only looking in the Netherlands for one, yes quite rare!

Only 30 were ever sold new in the Netherlands, 20 in 1979, and 10 in 1980, which means only the Series 1 cars in black/silver stripe, small headlights, and light grey trim.
None of the blue Series 2 cars were sold in the Netherlands.

wow, thats rare indeed in the Netherlands and yes, those days I only looked within NL, some CAR magazines and newspaper ads, of course not all, just a few so yes, pretty limited search.

Great info, no wonder I only new 1 and spotted maybe 2 others those days in the 80-tish, never knew the small headlights and the 'normal examples, just looked those up, makes some difference.

GUL 514W What became of you ??
A very original factory black example It’s seen here in summer 1995 as found in Autotrader in Hertfordshire. I gave the seller circa £500 quid for it. It came with a Brand New OE Fiat drivers door as well. The original door was absolutely rotten in the middle of the door !
It had been suplied new by Radbourne Racing of Wimbledon.
After a while I stuck an advert for it in Motoring News for £550 inc the door …..
A guy came and viewed it and bought lt on the spot, saying that he “ was going to fit a Cossy engine in it…..”
Sadly I never heard from him again and it seems to have disappeared. I reckon he broke it up…..

An acquaintance bought a V registered Grey one of these in circa 1982, it went well and I can still recall it’s cool
glove box lid that slid sideways…..

Traditionally cars rust around the arches, bottom of the doors, boot lid, bonnet etc. Seeing is believing in a Mirafiori door rusting from the centre which I have witnessed although fortunately not on my car.

I could never understand how an undamaged panel could rust on a car from the centre.

Did the mk1 or mk2 Rs2000 have a lsd or was it only
An extra ? I had a mk2 but don’t remember about the diff ( it was easy to slide so maybe it had one)

LSD wasn't standard on Mk1 or Mk.2.

It was optional extra cost factory option on the Mk.1, but never on the Mk.2 (was a dealer fit option only on the Mk.2)

Never came as standard but I would expect your RS dealer would fit one for you as an extra.

LSD (finis code 905 0828) is listed as an aftermarket item ("suitable for all Escorts, Cortina I and II") in the (Ford RS) Rallye Sport Parts Catalogue together with a host of other rear axle goodies and service parts.
The May 1981 Domestic Dealer Price List confirms a retail price excluding VAT for said LSD of £170.84.

A reverse image search on Google only comes up with that same image, which was posted on Facebook in January 2021.

I would have thought that if anyone took that on as a restoration project, it would have been all over Google.

As has been suggested in a previous post, I suspect it was used for the VIN plate and that was that.
It is weird as I remember seeing 5 or 6 photos of it around that time, I believe the garage it was stored in collapsed and it was left open to the elements for years, just cannot find anything else on it now.

It was discovered a few years ago. There were many more pics. Nothing salvageable except maybe the glass

They also did beige trim on the last RS2000s as well

Not a great pic but you can see it here

Perspex covers over the lights ? I can't remember them being available as an aftermarket accessory. Home made ?
You could certainly buy them in the mid 80s - most places you could get them and as said, they were certainly cheaper than new headlights - they did them at our local motor factors in either clear or tinted. The 2 bezel screws were enough to hold them on
Have to say the headlights were so good on the Mk2 RS2000s ( tended to run 100W bulbs in them on a relay ) you didn’t need to take the covers off

Ripspeed did them too ( bottom right of advert ) for a princely sum hehe

I would enjoy a stock standard car more than that thing.

My full resto almost complete. Been a long journey.

Parts are hugely expensive if you’re seeking NOS.

Pair of door rubbers £800, Centre console £1000 etc etc
