I thought it was very interesting when the detective said they were were keeping on open mind on why the house was targeted.
Rather than jumping to baseless conclusions you mean...
Indeed.

ouse prices. It's like the Daily Mail here. Maybe he has a chain of nail parlours? If he is involved in something criminal you would think he might be a bit more reticent in his use of social media and having his face all over the news etc. Whilst it certainly looked like the "burglary" was targeted, it might just as easily be because he wouldn't pay protection money or something, as that he is a partner in sex trafficking or the various things the guy has been accused of here.
Protection money LOL this is Luton not Naples mate.

My view is Mr Hornea has most probably not had issues with a dodgy nail job here and something provoked the horrific act of barbarism.

I notice on BBC they say he's being sentenced in a few weeks https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-h... That maybe explains the sudden cramming in at the end of this episode.

If it can happen in Birmingham why not Luton? I was jury on what was essentially a protection racket case. The guy ignored the threats to his family (at his house so he knew they knew where he lived), didn't pay up, so they took him outside his work for a beating. They essentially had a bunch of the local garages tied up in it. You fix the car for free or you get a beating, you pay us compensation weekly for the shoddy work you did on the car, or you get a beating. Lovely bunch of people.

It could just have been the wrong house.

I think all the speculation is mostly because nail bars have such a dodgy reputation. My thought when I was watching it was that the social media release would be a nice cover if the horrible Romanian chap received a bit of unofficial justice. Much larger pool of people who might have felt motivated to give him a beating once the video was out there.

An article from September 2019:

Police said the man made off with a satellite TV decoder, a Nintendo Wii console and another games console

He's a thug from Romania, doing the dirty work for the top guys. He's not exactly going to be working for NASA.

This is why a lot of the older generation still keep a chain on the front door.
That'll make all the difference!

Danny looked like an Asian Arran Coghlan
It works very well and gives the householder a chance to see who is there (though the flimsy ones would be useless).
Wouldn't have made any difference in this case.

They opened the door voluntarily, so would equally have taken the chain off to receive the delivery.
Quite, an elementary error on their part. I doubt they will do it again.....
I wouldn't have said opening the door to a parcel delivery man is an elementary error - even the policewoman herself said she would have done the same.

but yes, they, won't do it again I'm sure.

More to this than meets the eye?
Does seem strange to randomly attack these people....
These people that have a full CCTV system INSIDE their house and £20k in cash to put up as a reward.

Wonder what the backstory is.

Definitely more to this than let in for the reasons above.

That is not to defend the Romanian at all, he needs to be nuked from orbit.

I suspect he missed a episode of his fav soap and so broke in to take the Sky box so he could catch up.

I thought that there may be some additional evidence from another previous "event" on the CCTV and he was sent to retrieve it, but stole the wrong box.

It'd be ironic if he was trying to source all of the old episodes "24 Hours in Police Custody" after them being removed from 4OD hehe

Maybe nail bar man put it up on Facebook precisely because he wanted our Romanian friend to go to ground because he was involved in something illegal

You see, there again is another aspect I found odd about it all.

The Police appeared absolutely incredulous that the CCTV footage had been uploaded to social media. Almost as if the ‘golden rule’ had been broken.

I’m guessing here, but I would have thought the Police would have certain protocols and criteria in place for victims - to avoid doing such a thing? Particularly considering how social media and its associated history can result in undesirable consequences.

Or perhaps the reasons for the upload were two-fold. Draw attention to someone, and divert away from others?

Producer asking a leading question about why the chicken shop is so profitable, a previous conviction for drugs, and a lingering shot of a sign saying it's a cash-only business... it's not about the chicken
