To many a car is a pet
These people should not be indulged. They're mad. If you (not you) want to treat your car like a sentient and precious member of your family, then don't leave it at anywhere you wouldn't leave your infirm granny. It's a car. Leave it with me and I'll treat it like a car. Treating it like your infirm granny is not on our price list.
Thought Manish was a bit harsh on French F1 involvement on this weeks pod. This was on top of looking at last years Retromobile (he would have been disappointed looking for the French F1 display this year).
It s always good taking the piss out of the French (and indeed vice versa) but the clue is in the name's ‘Grand Prix’ and ‘FIA’ .
They not only invented motor racing, they created Grand Prix, the first European championships and, post-war, Formula one.
That’s also ignoring all the great French Grand Prix marques from before and after like Panhard, Daracq, Bugatti, Talbot, Delage, Talbot-Lago, Gordini, Matra, Ligier and Renault as well as plentiful top drawer drivers before Prost.

Whilst we're dumping on Manish, hearing him basking in the glow of his Alpina dinner whilst repeating 'Alpine' was an exercise in cringeworthiness -- so much so that even CC couldn't bring himself to call out the faux pas.
Back to hot hatches, I lusted after this:

And -- an Integra is not a hot hatch. The premise of a hot hatch is something designed like a trolley, going like a rocket.

The Tesla ranty bit - It is clear Musk is not a car guy, which is fine - but there should be no surprise in his actions.
He was SolarCity which linked to then the plan for batteries and storage (home and volume), as much as he is for Tesla, and as much as SpaceX, that enabled Starlink and now the next 'thing' - of space AI Data centres. Maybe a little whacky to most, but don't forget everyone said reusable rockets would be impossible. He might be right and see the world of possible we can't.
He sees holes in future landscape and works to fill them.
In the case of Tesla, if others catch up - he moves on.
Tesla's are not for 'car people'. Which is fine, but that does not change whether they 'just work' and none better fit the user case than Tesla with the Supercharger network and possibility of a single eco-system to put the Powerwall as storage at home (i.e. premium purchaser, single interface stuff).
Maybe it is infamy as Tesla that skews the view of him as 'pah Tesla are toast and not as good as the others now' - but I doubt he cares.
He made a sector, some parts of it still exist well and will continue (3 and Y and superchargers) while the niche, low volumes will die off (Y, X and Cyber-truck)

Manish endlessly repeating the word 'horny' was one of the podcast's stranger moments.
HahaAll lovely blokes but they have some idiosyncrasies, which makes them all the more endearing
Cooper, with his humour, reminds me of a Comic Strip character who's dialogue was entirely double entendres and rode a push bike with dildos as handlebar grips.

For once Manish came across as a bit unbalanced (I always view him as level headed one of the foursome) and it was more about the sneeriness about Musk that got me. I imagine that kind of conversation is a regular feature amongst the chatterati at Islington dinner parties…He was SolarCity which linked to then the plan for batteries and storage (home and volume), as much as he is for Tesla, and as much as SpaceX, that enabled Starlink and now the next 'thing' - of space AI Data centres. If Musk is not a “car guy” (the man bought an F1 ffs) then I think that’s an accusation that could be levelled at many a CEO of a sizeable number of car manufacturers these days…does it necessarily matter if you have good people under you making a good product?
