That is staggering I must admit, I've never witness anything like this but it amazes me that people are that ignorant and stupid. The irony being that most British people would rather have respectable people of all backgrounds around them than the kind of ignorant scum coming out with abuse like that mentioned.
A good friend of mine is from Trinidad and once asked him if he'd ever experienced any racist comments or abuse, was glad to hear that he never had.
Still shocks me when people are that outwardly racist though.

I reported it to the police and after a little to-ing and fro-ing, he was found and sentenced. I received details of his sentencing:

Do you think he will change or just be angrier and feel the authorities have it in for him?
One that bothered me for years, I was probably about 10 or 11 and was walking down to the beach on my own, and I passed a very respectable looking pensioner who was walking towards me.
I said 'Afternoon' as I walked past and he absolutely exploded.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY? - I SAID, WHAT DID YOU SAY?" he screamed at me, dangerously purple in the face.
"mmmm. Afternoon" I meekly replied.
I think that he then realised that he'd misheard (God knows what he thought I'd said), and then stomped off glaring back at me.
Nasty old bugger, I didn't bother trying to be nice to strangers after that for a long time.

15 years ago I was heading to the shops with my mum (I was around 10, little sister around 6)
Its coming up to Christmas, car park absolutely heaving, mum stops close by a lady loading her pram into the boot when she indicated she was leaving. Lady drives out of her space, and some woman driving past drives straight in, despite us obviously waiting for that space with indicators on
Mum gets out to protest, woman is a real foul mouthed chav and begins racially abusing my mum before walking away.
This is bad enough, Mum's shaking a bit when 2 scumbag 50 year old blokes tell her that she had no right to protest because that woman is English and we're f*cking P*kis
Mum argues back that we're all born in Britain and who the hell do they think they are - a few people have stopped at this point seeing 2 big guys arguing with a 5'2 Indian lady with 2 kids
The 2 guys then threaten to smash my face in and sell my sister to be abused
Mum practically in tears at this point by the time a couple of people step in and usher the 2 c*nts away, and we drive home
I've often thought about how badly I'd like to get hold of those 3 people, now I'm not a helpless kid being protected by his mother

Encountered quite a few angry chuggers on camden high street, one in particular was outraged that I didn't give a chuff about blind/deaf/children and proceed did to ask me what I did care about: animals, humans, disabled, political prisoners? he kept shouting to me and others trying to get support.
I replied after 5 pints all I care about now is a steak sandwich from dirty metro's with lashings of chilli sauce.
Whilst I stood there watching my steak cook, he shouted that I was responsible for all the worlds ills and only cared about myself.

No, I just don't care. At all.
Yeah, me neither.

The mass 'clinking' (replace the l with an h) of glasses at a recent family meal accompanied by lots of people saying "clink" (again, replace the l with an h to bypass the swear filter, it really is relevant to the story), only then did we look over and notice the ethnicity of the family at the next table.

Good grief.
Are we allowed good grief even? Should I say 'double plus ungood'?

Compared to some mine was mild.
Walking the dogs and the girl, a big old Lurcher, has a big pee.
Carried on walking, a white van pulls up and I'm thinking directions.
Fat yob driving, "Are you gonna pick that up?"
Sorry, says I, bemused.
"That shi1t your dog just done"
Well I'm not "powerfully built" but no shrinking violet either.
So lowering myself to words he would comprehend, "She's a girl and she's just had a big pi$$ and you need to keep your effing snout out!"
Screeches off in his Vivaro.

Where abouts was this?
I've encountered racism in the Birmngham a couple of times. Once in Allum Rock where I was told whites aren't welcome (I was only trying to deliver a parcel to the lovely Mrs Singh
) and once in Ladywood where my delivery van was pelted with bricks and we later realised a bullet had gone through the side panel
however I think the latter was more due to the thuggish area I was trying to work in and my skin colour was something to comment on.

Thanks for all of your kind words. This was in Chatham, Kent. We still have family in the area, but haven't been back there in years
Fortunately, its been a one off incident that has always reminded me that there really are some absolute scumbags out there.
Can't deny that its still something that affects me even after all this time, and even typing that out I found myself getting quite worked up

I really just can't understand why the hell in this day and age anyone can consider themselves better than others due to the colour of their skin.
Especially when their actions clearly show that they are beneath contempt and hard of thinking, to be polite.

Absolutely. When I was about 10 my Mum and Dad took me and my sister to Battersea park for something or other I don't remember what. Anyway at the end of the day we walked back to our car (a mk1 cavalier which wasnt that old at the time!)which was parked within the park boundary, there were only a few cars there but we found a group of kids (they didn't seem like kids at the time but I guess were 16 or 17) sitting on our car.
When my Dad asked them to move they went for him, my Mum bundled us into the car and we sat watching (and shifting ourselves) whilst my Dad got his face punched in. Eventually they got bored or whatever and my Dad got back in the car and we got the hell out of there, he with blood pouring down his face. I'll never forget Mum giving him a gingham tea towel to mop it up.
It was a very quiet journey home, and whilst it didn't turn me into a massive racist or anything I was always vary wary of groups of black teenagers when I was younger, and hated going into London for ages

That would have scarred me for life... Hope your dad (plus you and your family) got over it? Did the police catch any of them?
Mandos_01 sorry for what you experienced, I didnt think there was much overt racism about but that changed when I went for a meal with one of the coders who worked for me, we had worked late in the office, and the coder asked me if I wanted to join him breaking fast, so we piled out for a meal and he was explaining to me the traditions of Ramadan and what it meant to him and how much it was going to cost him all very interesting, when we left the restaurant I spotted a group of drunk lads, one of them spotted us and shouted "why don't you go back to where your f
king from"
I was thinking, its going to kick off, and working out which one would be my best option if it does, then I heard the coder shouting back in the most broad yorkshire accent I have ever heard.
"Where Halifax ?, Born and bred in Halifax not Pakistan ya daft b
d"
At this moment I thought its really going to kick off, but then all the thug's mates fell about laughing and taking the piss out of the guy who had said it.
What really saddened me was when the coder told me that it was a regular occurrence,, hence why he learnt martial arts and other coping mechanisms to deal with it when it happened.
