5/10 for me.

It dragged on a bit. The ending in the real world was very weak. CGI was great, the Shining scenes were pretty cool.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

Having not read the book I had nothing to compare it to and I really liked it, loved the nod to Aliens with the Pulse Rifle and the Glaive from the film Krull.

Saw it last night - it was pretty good IMO. Formulaic as expected, but loved the soundtrack and all the nostalgia.

Just a shame we didn't get to see the Delorean do a little 'time jump' during the race - especially after the reference to Bill and Ted, who time travelled smile

Loved it. 8/10 for me. If you've not read the book then you need to..

Caught this last night at my little local cinema.

Enjoyed reasonably overall, but...

...it didn't quite work for me. I think, after 24 hours reflection, the problem is that a lot of the geeky nostalgia stuff is aimed at me, 47 years old, and I think I was on the young side for quite a bit of it. Whereas the plot/characters/action was aimed and levelled for a young teenage audience. And those are 2 very different targets, and should have been 2 very different films.

It was ok, the book was better.

They cut whole sections out from the book too.

Two minutes after the end I found I couldn't remember a thing about it.

Yeah some OK bits a lot of very average and a few really strange poor decisions completely outside of the ethos of the film.

Poor effort for me

The only really decent reference in the whole thing was the Shining bit because it was there long enough to actually appreciate the effort.

Most of the rest of the references were such quick blink and you'll miss it throwaway detail that it was pointless.

The actual story was pretty hollow too.

Shame really as you could feel the potential but the actual execution was lacking.

Watched this as the weekend, I'll echo some other posters on here, the shining scene was incredible and very well done, the race was ok if a little hard to follow. But the whole thing was way too long and the story was a bit under-developed. 6/10. Would be a 4/10 without the shining scene though.

I really love the book and have just gotten around to watching the film. What a steaming dog turd on top of a pile of horse st it is. It bears almost no relation to the original story and could’ve been so good, what a wasted opportunity.

It's an alright film, but it's ruined for me as I could pick out what parts of Birmingham were used to film it. The scene towards the end when they're driving that van, the road looks like it goes on forever. In real life it isn't, you'd have it walked in 30 seconds to be honest. You could also see the old Latif's (cash and carry) in the background of one of the shots, and I thought if the film was that good I wouldn't recognise or think about these bits. So yeah, it's alright but it aint' great.

What an odd criticism. If you know a place you are likely to recognise it on screen.

Ready Player Two (the book) is out now.

I’ve got it on the way, likely it will eventually be adapted for a follow up film.
