During the first lockdown, I fired up the ps3 again for the first time in years, to play some old games I'd bought but never actually played. The best game I've played this year, and possibly ever, is Mass Effect 2. Brilliant! thumbup
Mass effect 2 is a great game, but absolutely fks the trilogy over by not advancing the reaper plot in any way. You can literally play mass effect 1 then 3 and not have any problems.
Currently getting to the end of 3 and am looking forward to the conclusion!

I didn't really get any games this year but if Days Gone is a 2020 game that wins for me (got it free with the PS5 but it still counts right?)

I just get most of my games from CEX, I refuse to pay £50+ for game when they're released, I wait a few months and get it 2nd hand.
Me too and it is one of the reasons I am not urgently needing a PS5 as I would only play PS4 games on it till I can get some 2nd hand PS5 games.

Of the games I played this year, Bloodborne again, SKyrim for the fourth massive play through, PubG for another thousand hours and Divinity Original Sin 2, none are 2020 titles. I read the comment about the chap playing mass effect 2 on his Ps3. Sounds like a classic way to enjoy some seriously cheap older gaming.

The only one of these I played for the first time in 2020 was Div Orig Sin 2. So it has to be that one for me.

Having had it sitting on the shelf for at least a year, I finally got around to playing Resident Evil VII on PSVR - hands down my most memorable gaming experience this year. Utterly terrifying in places laugh

Although not a recent game I’ve picked up the Witcher 3 with both expansion packs for under £10 on steam.

I’m probably about 25hours in now and really enjoying it, I think it’s best to think of it as a slow burn though, the first 10 hours or so I did wonder what all the fuss was about biggrin

I’ve also played a lot of GTA V (modded on PC) and over 100 hours on American Truck simulator, don’t mock it until you try it hehe

I'm a Switch owner, and can't be bothered to change the tiny cards so buy digital.

No resale value is the downer, but I wait for the regular sales on the online store so less expensive.

Started playing this when we first got a PS4 a couple of years ago- I'd have much rather played on PC but figured being 3rd person I could cope with a controller and it was a bit more sociable sat on the sofa than upstairs on the PC. Anyway, got about 10-15 hours in but just never got hooked on it like I thought I would. I've played Skyrim (heavily modded, on PC) to death, so thought I would love it, but it just didn't click for me.

But seeing your post above, perhaps I just need to persist a bit longer!

Yep, definitely need to give it a bit longer. I felt the same as you after 10 hours. Ended up absolutely loving it and the expansions are brilliant. My most played game on the PS4

Streets of Rage 4. I haven't played it yet either, but just because it's there, it wins.

100%. It's by far the most imaginative game I've played this year, and the combat combined with the destructabilty of the environment is just.. amazing.

It really rewards exploration and reading all the material.

I tried The Last Of Us 2 but only managed about half way through. I lost interest, sadly. Nothing else new really floated my boat this year so I’ve been replaying Zelda: BOTW a few times. Always a stunning game.

The quality and attention to detail still amazes me for a game this old. It still looks really crisp imho.

Have to agree, it still looks beautiful for a 7 year old game, especially with some of the visual mods you can add to the PC version. The new island is fantastic, such a shame that most players cannot access it for free roam unless you mod it and spawn it in, a missed opportunity I think...
