How often do you think response teams exceed that?
Gotta be very rare, surely?
I doubt they go over 100 very often, even on a clear motorway .
This is very incorrect... most units that utilise the Volvo platform will be advanced drivers in specialist policing areas.. APU, RPU, Dogs ect. We will very frequently be above 100.

Also.. the Volvo platform is hated by every unit that has to currently utilise them. Everyone is very much looking forward to going back to VAG.

Perhaps the VAG net could be widened to include Porsche Cayenne?
Last time I saw a thread like this it was something along the lines of VAG had offered forces cayennes for the same price as a X5 but it was public perception that put them off, imagine the Facebook warriors these days!

I wonder what will replace the touregs since they ve gone out of production? I imagine Q7 as Avon police have some of them

Or maybe a Jaecoo
That story, or a similar one, is always doing the rounds.

Remember when BMW offered to supply all response cars?
But public perception........

Fairly regularly. Even not on motorways.

A significant and pretty much unsurmountable problem with the Volvo XC90's for use as RPU and Firearms is that the safety features on the latest ones causes significant issues for certain techniques eg TPAC manoeuvres, the Volvo will actively fight the driver not to collide with another vehicle and Volvo have refused to deactivate it for Police vehicles.

XC90's are (relatively speaking) very cheap for the Police to buy from Volvo but they are deemed not fit for purpose for many uses.
Something as mundane as crossing the white line without indicating will get you dragged back to your lane...

The biggest issue that pursuit car engine tick over for long periods of time which is not great for the engines due to the low oil pressure.

The dogs will love the superb, the driver might not love the seats

The main problem emerging is weight, and weight limits. This rules out loads of the hybrids.

I’m not sure if my force is unique for having weighed the RPU cars, but now they have, a lot have ridiculous restrictions on the carriage of passengers, kit etc.

I’m not convinced about the need for quite so many cones, etc, but the powers that be are.

The Superbs on fleet are a good drive I find, but wallowy sometimes due to kit. A6 3.0TDI a really nice drive but now discontinued I gather?

Volvos…yeah… at least they take the weight!

They have some slightly older mondeos, ford focus estates and transits for the dogs.

Its been an issue for many years BMW 530D were right on the weight limit when used as ARVs hence the move to X5s before the move away from BMW.

Many PSU / Protected carriers have been found to be overweight on the front axle, having the prisoner cell over the rear axles meant all the cops were sat towards the front of the vehicle putting it overweight on the front axle. One of the reasons for having shelving / storage for kit bags / Door rams etc at the back of the van over the rear wheels

I like the mondogs they are great cars, though we opted for the ST line ones so the ground clearance causes some issues.

We tried the v90's and just don't get along with them, cage design isn't great.

We did one of ours recently and it was all good weight wise (no getting out of custody runs like ARV...).

Other forces can only use them single crewed due to weight issues. No idea what they are putting in them.

I'd say this is bonkers, however the local force here quite often only have three RPU officers for the whole county, doubling crewing isn't a 'problem' eek

That would be a bit of an issue in Scotland!
