Tesco points into Goldsmiths vouchers

Unfortunately in my experience that is not the case. I had accrued £400 in Tesco vouchers so went to Goldsmiths to buy a £2,050 Tag Carrera; I managed to negotiate a £150 discount but as soon as I whipped out the vouchers, all discounts were off.
So Tesco convert £400 free pounds into £1600 free and you want further discount, I bet Tesco don't pay £1 for a £1 voucher. Also the vouchers have to be spent on a transaction of £200 or more. So it is in their interest to ensure you keep a few quid back as you either lose them or you have to add money to it bringing it back to over £200.
I can't complain got a TW steel icon watch and the Mrs got a nice DKNY bracelet.
I guess the rationale must be to use the Tesco vouchers for a substantial part of the payment. No point using £200 worth against a £2000 watch when you could have got it for £1800 cash. Like many we accumulate the vouchers at an alarming rate as my wife has a Tesco credit card. Eating out tonight on Tesco!

Have c.£1000 in Tesco's vouchers ie £4k to spend.
Not being an expert in 2nd hand watches, if I were to spend my vouchers on watches to then resell (is this the best way to convert Points to Cash?) what would be best retained value as a %age for a new watch or (subject to Goldsmiths 'previously owned' stock) are there certain makes/models that are more tradeable/better retained value than others.
A bit of a ramble but do you get my jist?
Thanks for any expert opinion.
Paul.

Have you had the letter it's going down to 3x not 4x in about 5 weeks for voucher exchange,
But keeping double points etc, looks like they're trying to make it all too complicated now and Joe public will be legged by clever marketing somewhere along the line ?

Just done the sums on the Tesco calculator, and even being a little generous, it's only £670 p/a once the vouchers have been quarupaled. (sp?)
Still, that must be a decent discount on something from the lower end of Chopards happy Diamonds range, (simple earings?). Can these vouchers be used on second hand watches, as the store local to me, (Meadowhall, Sheffield), usually has quite a used selection.
T&C are here: http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/tesco, doesn't say anything specifically about second hand watches... why not give the store a call and ask them?Still, that must be a decent discount on something from the lower end of Chopards happy Diamonds range, (simple earings?). It does say that you can't use them on sale items... I've got about 330 to spend there, currently thinking about a Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Chrono or a Tissot PRC 200 to replace my SMP :sob: because I need to raise some funds.

I've had a tesco clubcard for a couple of years now and stupid me always spent the points instore

When you convert them to goldsmith vouchers do they not have a use by date on or is it a case i dont spend tens of thousand of pounds in tesco.

because there was always a use by date on the vouchers but reading this thread how the hell do you manage to get £400 which when you x4 equals £1600 to spend
i shop and fill up there weekly and get points from my energy bills and always use my tesco credit card when possible and i only get about £20
which equals £80 (soon to be £60) when the envelope lands on my doormat.

'Phone and get points 'rolled over' ie adds another 2 years on.

You can buy 2nd hand at Goldsmiths using vouchers - presumably better return than new if selling on? - Rolex best?
yep, Don't convert until you need to, the Vouchers have a pretty short shelf life, I got caught out by this at the end of last year, I had £400 of vouchers to use, they had a sale on and you have to buy at list price, the discounts on most decent watches was more than the value of the vouchers,
Sorry for the holy thread resurrection batman but the Tesco points calculator is unavailable, and I was hoping someone could clear this up for me as I'm not entirely clear how the points are converted into pounds. Am I right in thinking that it's:
1 point per £1 spent, so £100 shopping is 100 points, worth £1 in vouchers?
Each £1 voucher is worth £3 towards a nice new Planet Ocean at Goldsmiths, therefore?

Therefore you only need to spend £93 333 at Tescos over the next two years and you can have a completely free watch.1 point per £1 spent, so £100 shopping is 100 points, worth £1 in vouchers?
Each £1 voucher is worth £3 towards a nice new Planet Ocean at Goldsmiths, therefore?
Awesome.
