Didn't get on last night but a few quick tips for those new to playing factions
1) Use the semi auto rifle with a silencer, it's by far the best gun in the game, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's massively overpowered. The silencer ensures you don't show up on the map every time you shoot(very important)
2) DO NOT RUN unless you absolutely have to. Giving away your position by running or shooting an unsilenced weapon will almost always ensure that in about 5 seconds the opposition will be down on you like a tonne of bricks.
3) Stick with your team, unless you are very good (or lucky), running into any more than 1 enemy player at a time is a sure way to die. Your team can provide support\revives etc.
4) Make for the supplies at every opportunity. This might seem obvious but it's amazing how many people run for the first set and then ignore the rest. Having a Molotov or smoke bomb handy in an encounter can be the difference between living or watching the respawn screen (again)
5) Do not throw the normal bombs as they rarely get you a kill this way. Far better to leave them lying around in sneaky, hard to see positions by just pressing the R1 key. You'd be amazed how many extra kills you get this way and it's especially satisfying when you are in a totally different area of the map and you get points out of the blue because someone tripped over your bomb. If you equip the bomb expert perk this strategy works even better, seriously I probably get about a third of my kills this way. It also has the added bonus of really pissing off the opposition and making them extra cautious.
All good tips!!! Smoke bombs are ideal for paralysing opposing players - I find that bomb kills are more likely if you launch a smoke to stop them in their tracks first. You can also chuck molotov/ bombs into a melee group for easy kills - always keep a spare handy.1) Use the semi auto rifle with a silencer, it's by far the best gun in the game, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's massively overpowered. I sometimes us a kamikaze method for large groups- if you can get the team to bunch up together in a confined space then run in and drop one in the middle of the crowd and then melee away - it will take everyone out including yourself.
Another sneaky technique is to leave a bomb at your feet or crawl back to one when downed - anyone who tries for a special execution will cop it too.....
No worries, it's just a different type of play style which you have to get used to. You have to be sneaky but not camp as that usually doesn't work either as you end up getting cornered.
Keep moving steadily around the map using the normal walk and crouch as these don't show up on the map in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction (depending on where the enemy is) to hit those supply drops. Try to work out from the map which direction the enemy (who will also usually be circling the map) is heading and try to sneak up from behind. You can use the L2 sprint button later on to light yourself up on the map and lure the enemy in to your nice bombs\traps when you've got a bit more used to the game.
I should be on at some point over the weekend so I'll join if I see you on.
I wished they'd do some extra DLC for the factions part though as it needs a bit of balancing and some new weapons and maps. Still really fun as it is though and when you are the last man standing vs 3 opponents as happened to me the other night, it certainly gets the adrenaline pumping like no other game!

In the Gladstone Tower, where you drop down to take out 4 Runners and a Clicker. I can't stealth pull them one by one, without attracting the rest, and I can't get them all before they get me.
Yeah, I got stuck on that for ages. It's definitely better to kill them as quietly and quickly as possible. I think in the end I had so many attempts I just got good enough to wipe them out. I did nearly give up on the whole game there but I'm really glad I didn't. Actually when I finished, I played through a second time and went straight through that part on the first attempt!I don't have a PS3 so am unable to play this, but I recently saw an article on Kotaku about a 6 hour YouTube video that is a complete playthrough in the style of a film (ie. it attempts to capture the major story, cutscenes, etc., rather than showing you how to play the game. If that makes sense)
I've been wayching it over the past couple of days and have really enjoyed it.
I realise it's no substitute for playing the game, but I was glad I watched it. What a great story.

There is talk of a film adaptation of the game. There was an article on the subject in the Guardian just this week actually. I'm not sure it would work, game/movie adaptations generally make for poor viewing.I've been wayching it over the past couple of days and have really enjoyed it.

Yes I saw that. It could work, if done right. I know the Doom film was panned, but I kinda liked it. Same goes for the first Tomb Raider.
But, yes, on the whole they don't work.

That is awesome news but quite a turnaround from their initial "It's not coming out on the PS4" statement. When's it out?
June 20th in the USA, and June 13th in Australia. I assume, European/UK release date will be similar."The Last of Us: Remastered will boast full 1080p resolution, enhanced visuals with improved models and textures, as well as better environmental lighting and other tweaks. It'll also feature all DLC content, including the Left Behind story addition."

so looking forward to it. Can't see me getting a PS4 for a while got so much to do on my pS3 yet with GTA V, GT6 this and Asssians creed black flag!
