I’ve just watched that documentary about Jimmy Galante buying an ice hockey team and all the ins and outs that came about with that, best thing I’ve seen on Netflix for absolutely ages.
Any idea what it was called? smile
laugh good point… Untold Crime & Penalties.
Just finished this, absolutely brilliant, are the others any good do you know?

2 films I saw today.

Prey - 2021
German film dubbed in English.
5 mates on a stag weekend in the forest start getting hunted by a mystery sniper, 1 by 1.
Starts off well then goes downhill.
Crap story, crap acting, the 5 mates were dumb and the sniper was some kind of master tracker considering they were walking at a snails pace the whole film but still managed to find the guys and somehow even popped up in front of them at times in this massive forest.

3/10

Kate - 2021
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the master assassin working under Woody Harrellson carrying out hits on Japanese Yakuza.
After being poisoned and having a day to live she tries to track down her killer.
Decent action film for Netflix and better than a lot of things they have put out recently.

It has a great car chase scene at the beginning and a very violent fight scene in a private club.

It may be a mish mash of a lot of different films of this type but story was decent and the action was good.

6.5/10

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Not sure if its been mentioned before but stumbled across this last night. Not really sure what to make of it to be honest.
I watched this on Friday and I agree. Not one I would recommend either.
I thought it was absolutely brilliant. A story of friendship, the shallowness of Hollywood and the freaks that live on the fringes. One of QT's best.
I watched this last night. I’d avoided it for a long time due to its length - and wanting to avoid being disappointed halfway through. I must admit, I found it slow-going and rather odd at first.

But the last ten minutes were worth it all. Classic Tarantino at his best, bizarre comedy, laced with violence and shock.

And I agree, I’m sure it set out to paint a picture of the shallowness of Hollywood and the key players and personalities at the time, and the clash with the counter-culture hippy movement.

I thought the friendship portrayed by the two leads ( Di Caprio and Pitt) was also an interesting part of the film.

Not the best QT film, but very good. I always think the true measure of any good film is whether you are still thinking about it the next day. And this one - I am.

It really helps if you know the (true) backstory:

Of course I knew the back story, and the Manson Murders, I dreaded it creeping up, in all its savagery.

But I think that was the true genius in QT’s work here.

He switched the actual, to others in the story, but maintained the violence and insanity - of the time.

Watched the first of the new episodes last night. Unfortunately doesn't seem to improve on the first half of season 6. I'll have to stick with it as it's the end, but I have a feeling it's going to be hard going again.

The last 15 minutes were as violent as any film I've watched.
On the whole though I thought the film was superb.

Finished The Innocent. Well worth a watch in my opinion.

Just starting Part 5 of Money Heist. I'm wondering whether it'll get too drawn out, has anyone here seen it yet?

Good film, the two leading ladies look great in this, whoever did the makeup and wardrobe got it spot on.

I'm now on E5 and still enjoying it.
We gave up halfway through episode 3. Main problem was people behaving in ways that they wouldn't normally in order to make the story work.

Just finished it and I thought it was even better the second time around as the first was a pirate and had people going for popcorn.

Kate is worth watching purely for the chase scene with the Bosozoku car. Brilliant.

El Inocente

As previously mentioned it's worth a watch. It's quite brutal in places. The timeline comes together throughout though I thought the final espisode was slightly disappointing with regards to the father's place in it all.

Not sure how long it's been there but Zombieland: Double Tap is pretty good, particularly if you liked the original film.
