I could see a plot where they have franchised out we see a building business, less hands on for the originals, they are the bosses now with people doing the work, Egon is doing research, Venkman's a recluse etc. Start with a montage building it and then a capture with some of the staff.
Then nothing, the ghosts are all gone.
The business collapses with no ghosts to bust.
Then of course it starts again, maybe Egon is a ghost now working on the inside.

What made GB great wasn't the ghosts it was the characters and their interactions but this will likely be a CGI fest.
There's some pretty good ideas. and Egon on the other side, that's brilliant!
Have they been stealing our ideas?
Title Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Although anything with ghosts is a bit afterlifey.

And Bill is in.

Trailer any day apparently.

I'm actually just a little bit excited about this...

Great trailer, a modern look, and the shift of scene looks fantastic.

Very interesting how little humour there is in there too.

Reasons to be cheerful?

I am a big fan of the originals, I have the 2016 film a go but it was, by and large, crap.

This I am looking forward to, I suspect the dead grandpa referred to is Egon Spengler, really hoping it fulfils it’s promise.

Sort of weird having the rural setting but it has to be different, the signs are good given it’s the original directors son and quite a few of the original cast are signed up, hopefully not just in cameos as another character.

I can't believe how much better that trailer looks than the 2016 excrescence.

I'm in.

Was worried about the kid led aspect, but that looks amazing.

Felt quite an emotional trailer, especially when talking about her grandfather (Egon) passing.

Also was it me or did a certain demonic dog appear in the trailer?

It does ignore the game too. Which was originally the third instalment and the last one with input fromRamis

Yay!

Liking what I see. The tone feels right. Not minding that it's child led (maybe cos I would've been 8 or 9 when seeing the original). Paul Rudd character coming across as a good bridge to the original.

But..... I don't want more before release. I don't want a trailer showing if/when the original cast fit into this. I think that would be showing too much.

It's a good feel/start....buuuut.
Why do we wanna watch this....the original cast, like Star Wars. And yet not a whiff. Lucasfilm really botched the ball by not having a reunion film, and instead letting the actual characters that people wanted be third fiddle in the films. I want a trailer with the original cast in it, showing they're in the film for a good chunk, and really, I didn't want kids ghostbusters, but it does have the right vibe. I think it shows they really want this to make a yuge amount of Marvel money though.

A fine assessment. Having been bitten by one too many soft reboots my spider sense is tingling.

Or a nod to GB2, where for some unfathomable reason everyone now thought they were frauds despite ghosts rampaging through the city a few years before.
