Me too as it certainly seemed very well made and tells a story we don’t get to hear

Once upon a time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt is great, Leonardo good, and "Pussycat" whoever she was is cute, and there were some laughs, but the film is a bit of a dog's dinner: nicely done 1960s but almost boring, then very rushed with narration, then very violent. 6/10.

Just watched Pacific Rim: Uprising after picking it up cheap in HMV (yes I know).

Complete brain-out daftness, utter wanton destruction, and John Boyega doing a passing impression of Idris Elba.

Not the surprisingly good qualities of the first, but it kept me entertained (see the “what do you do on Sunday?” thread). Character development was irrelevant - I wanted robots kicking monsters’ arses.

Then I watched The Predator on Netflix. Meh.

The Foreigner on Netflix.
A recent Jackie Chan film set in London and Northern Ireland.
I didn’t know he still made films and had no awareness of this film whatsoever.
Predictable but exactly what you would want from a 60+ Jackie Chan, I forgave its shortcomings and really enjoyed it.
Pierce Brosnan as the sort of baddy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Great film.

Watched "Spotlight" on BBC iPlayer - the 2015 film about how the Boston Globe Spotlight team of investigative reporters unearthed the story of predatory priests in the Boston area.

Good film - not so much from the quality of the acting but more about the facts of the story.

Saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Very funny in places but as with Tarantino quite violent in others. Superb performances from Brad Pitt and Leonardo Di Caprio and especially Julia Butters as a young actor. Lots of decent 60's American motors on show. Well worth seeing. 9/10 from me.

The Predator, not Predator. They have been unable to make a decent one since the first sequel.

A big ditto from me.

Actually, I thought the violence was spot-on given the Sharon Tate involvement.

Even though I remember the story being in the news originally back in 69 I had to refresh my memory with good old Wikipedia.

Very nicely done. Actually had me thinking about the film, various points and aspects during the next day. That rarely happens!

Easy mistake to make. As was watching it again. I'm avoiding the latest one!

I thought Alien vs Predator, while not a patch on the original, was fun. The shot at the end of millions of aliens racing towards the top of the underground pyramid was awesome. A scene replicated in the last Riddick movie incidentally.

Saw it on Tuesday and totally agree. The performances from Brad and Leonardo were brilliant. Loads of nice 60's cars (though I think I saw the same Ferrari crop up in a couple of different locations). I've also been thinking about various aspects of the film and would actually go and watch it again.

Just shows how people see things different.

One of the most original violent thrillers I’d seen in years.

Didn’t think there was anything run of the mill about it at all
