Who was that anyway? I haven't watched all the preceding films (all the Avengers one obviously) so I might have missed that

I really enjoyed it and it didn't feel like a 3 hour film at all.

I didn't like the seemingly contrived "all the women save the day" scene towards the end of the film though - Some genuinely touching moments and excellent comedy throughout the film and I enjoyed the time travel bits, especially the film references to Back to the Future and others hehe

Hulk coming through the stairwell door made me jump too - Disappointed that he didn't play a bigger part in the film. I don't like Hulk Banner though.

Slightly hazy memory - but IM3 Tony gets seriously beaten up, and can't get help.

He stumbles upon a workshop, and it's a kid's. Kid helps IM rebuild, is clearly the same sort of child genius Tony was... I think Tony even gives him a repulsor, which the kid uses at a critical point to save Tony/Pepper.

Long time since I've seen IM3 - sure others will correct my mistakes.

He and Stark were oldest friends. In the comics when Stark fell apart with alcoholism (and IM's identity was a secret) Rhodes took over as IM. When I started reading Marvel, Rhodes was IM to me, not STark, it was new when STark took back over.

They can’t have been that good friends in the films. He didn’t even seem to notice when a new guy claiming to be Rhodes showed up for IM2 hehe

Ah thanks - I'm not sure I've seen all of Iron Man 3... I'll rewatch that one smile

The GCI fight at the end of IM 3 is a bit ‘meh’, but a lot of it is very good.

There’s a great moment where the little kid tells Stark about how his dad left one day and never returned. And Tony responds with something like “Stuff happens. Don’t be a pussy about it. This is what I need.”

It should be on $2.4b going into the weekend and with the usual weekend drop that would be around $2.6b by Monday. So yeah, it's hard to see it not doing it now.

It’s got to have what, another month minimum in cinemas? Yeah hard to see it not beating avatar now as you say.

Easily another month at least. Although the number of screens will decrease. Years ago when I worked in a cinema we were still showing Titanic (sold out) when you could rent it from the blockbuster next door, must have been showing for over 6 months. Depends what other films will rob screens but with massive 10+ screen multiplexes in most major towns and cities these days I am sure there will still be space for showings for many weeks.

It only pulled in $11M Monday which is quite a drop from previous days but even at that rate it only needs about 45 days to topple Avatar and that makes no account for Weekend increases. Last week it pulled $100M.

(I’m still not sure how the Soul Stone scenario would play out. “Please Mr Skull, can we have our Widow back?”)
I think the Russos are reported as having said that as the Red Skull was the keeper/protector of the soul stone, once it has been “won”, he’s free to go do whatever he wants to somewhere else. So no awkies reunions.

With the rules around acquiring the soul stone, what stopped Black Widow 'winning' it earlier when it was in Thanos' possession thereby stopping him getting all the stones in IW?

I guess first winner takes all. You can’t win it after someone has it from red skull?

That was just in the US, there and China have really dropped off but overall internationally it made $45m on Monday.

Infinity War was still in theatres in September, so it has a while to go yet...

Ah ok. I thought it was a big drop especially as it was a bank holiday in the UK. The box Office Mojo site is terrible, its hard to be sure what you are looking at.

Technically Red Skull is still there when Thanos goes for the stone which is after the Avengers have already had it, done their thing and replaced it.

That's a good point. In Avengers IW Red says he can go after the soul stone has been handed over, so how could Cap put it back, unless Red hung around for a taxi?
