I have just committed an act of vandalism....
Discussion
Is he currently wearing concrete boots at the bottom of the English Channel?
Is he now sitting in a police cell waiting to be processed?
Is he now being bummed to death by the other guy?
PS Well done, OPer. I wouldn't have done the same nor spoken to the dhead but it is justice of sorts. Mind you, my car costs £700.

I actually agree with what youre saying, and certainly preach this philosophy to my kids
but.......
This individual had clearly damaged my car - not once, but twice
The noise of the impact was significant, no way would they have been oblivious to the fact
To repair this will cost me a significant amount of money
I have no witnesses or CCTV to prove they did it
Their demeanour suggested to me that this was unlikely to have been an isolated incident and that they basically didnt give a toss
To repeat Im not proud of what I did but if Id have let it lie then I suspect my inner demons would have been raging all weekend at how somebody could trash my property without consequence
As Im typing this I have no remorse, not only am I calm and settled but I expect that they may take a little more care in future - perhaps when they park next to you
Cheers!
Agreed. If people such as this, are not made to understand what they have done wrong, and that doing what they did, could cost `them' they will just keep on doing it to numerous other car owners who happen to be around them. It seems they have a basic lack of respect for other peoples property (and ironically in this case their own) and need to understand that they have a responsibility to act reasonably to those around them. Another example of sh*t behaviour which seems to be on the increase, and which must be stamped out at source, if is not to become even more prevalent.I actually agree with what youre saying, and certainly preach this philosophy to my kids

Not sure if it is even much to do with how cheap or expensive a persons car is, it is the principle of the thing. These people are like bullies, who will carry on bullying until someone stands up to them and smacks them on the nose.Is he now sitting in a police cell waiting to be processed?

They really aren't, they are just people who view cars as disposable goods which they invest no value in with regard to care or pride, no doubt they have things they value and would be outraged if you damaged that, but they don't feel the same about cars.Edited by berlintaxi on Sunday 14th June 07:26

Even the terminally moronic would understand that for many, cars are expensive items, which people have worked hard to acquire. These are people, who don't hold any respect for others, or their property, and even if they don't value `their' car, They should at least value those of other people no matter how cheap or expensive. Only when it costs `them' in some way, might they begin to realize that doing what they did is just not acceptable.
Yes that's why we've a system of justiceWhat can you do that costs them but doesnt show that their original crime is acceptable.
You dont do what youve done to them - the eye for an eye - as that just shows damaging cars is acceptable and the cycle continues
You have to either fine them or lock them up. It also shows that fining and locking up is acceptable for wrong doing.
The very sticky fixed penalty could be another

Was it a male or female in the other car?
What possible difference should/could/would this make. Or are women entilited to something men are not?I am interested to know hence the question cocklover.

I politely tapped on their window and asked if they realised what they had just done - to which they shrugged and fired up their engine
How would you impolitely tap on someone's window?craig_m67 said:

No but avoiding the question does rather conjure up 'bravery' in the face of a 4'8" old lady. I may be wrong but I doubt the offending driver in question happened to be a 25 year old, 6'5" 18st bodybuilder. Most people's 'red mist' doesn't seem to descend so fast in such situations.... ETA: Obviously the OP is now going to come and tell us all about how the other party was the local nutter, rather than admit he went postal on a lady, naturally.

You do know that bit about the meek inheriting the earth is a mistranslation, right?
The cheesemakers?I have a lot of time for the meek, if it wasnt for the meek we'd all be giving an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth etc and then what would we look like?
It's the meek who turn the other cheek and prevent anarchy taking a hold. You dont hear much about them.
We could do a lot more to recognise what the meek have done for us...
bit like the physics a level questions that asked you to ignore friction / air resistance etc...
