Polo Harlequin was only made in one paint scheme, but far from one colour...
They wern't all indentical though, as the panels were effectively swapped from one car to another, using 4 different body colours, Red Blue (although it looks purple) green and yellow.

This meant that the main body colour was one of the four colours, and then the different coloured panels were also not neccesarily in the same order........
The guy speaks the truth:

WTF was written on the V5?
Colour blind ?

Correct, all customer Lotus Carlton/Omega's left the Hethel factory in Imperial Green only.
Wrong! There were six black, three white and two blue ones. That's not including all the ones ordered for motorsport.
I'm guessing here your doing some trolling so no i'm not really going to bite to your ill informed statement.

But a few more facts for you wink These cars were never used in motorsport and there were some development cars in silver and red but these were converted GSi's.

Cup 172s are one colour only, and the colour can't be had on any other Clio or indeed any other Renault as far as I know.

Oh just remembered. A very small number are Silver, though I've never seen one.

182 Cups 'nall.
Thought they were in the Blue and the Orange (both exclusive colours?).

quote]

The majority of 172 Cups were Mondial Blue, but a handful were Iceburg Silver. 182's were artic Blue!

The 182 Cups came only in Racing Blue & Inferno Orange.

Escort Twin Cam

I believe they were all white ? (someone will prove me wrong i suppose)
thumbup

There was one built in Sunset Red during the final month of production, it used to be owned by a good mate of mine, who was the first Twin Cam Registrar of the AVO Owners Club when it was formed in 1980. He was the 2nd owner and bought it in 1977.
Here it is back in 1985, the Sundym tinted glass and Mag Minilites were factory fitted.

It's rumoured that there was in fact another one made in Sunset Red and one in Maize Yellow as well in the last few weeks of production, but as far as I'm aware, neither of those has ever turned up.
And of course, the Twin Cam was also assembled in Australia from parts shipped from the UK, and these were available in any of the standard Mk1 Escort colours of the time.

My dad is the reason why it's the Lotus Carlton and not the Lotus Senitor GM wanted. The cars were developed for the DTM and Australian touring car series but never raced and the prototypes were never sold on. The reason the developement was canceled was because funds were transfered to the failing F1 team before they pulled out in 1992. By the time the decision was made Lotus had moved on to other projects like the Esprit S4S in 96 and the Elan replacement that would eventually become the Elise. Privately owned Carltons have been used in various endurance events including the American version of the Len Mans series.

Feel free to stand corrected.

Afaik the Carltons used for racing were normally aspirated cars based on the Evo500 and not the Lotus which your maybe getting confused with. I've never read or seen anything to do with the Lotus version being used, even in development or in private hands. Would seem strange to me that they'd aim to run in Australia and America with the Lotus version when the road going version was not even up for sale there for example?

As everything is pretty well documented and you seem to be in the know then I look forward to seeing some pics or articles to back up your story but I will ask my contacts who worked on the Lotus project back in teh day and see what they say as well. smile

Not quite the same thing as the C5 Z06 was always available in 5 colours but the Speedway White version was a one year only colour in 2001.

Weren't the original Integra Type Rs white only initially?

Citroen AX GT500 only came in metallic grey. I did once have a policeman cause me of committing an offence as it was grey on the logbook "but the car is quite clearly black"

Am I right to think that the Lotus 340R only came in metallic grey? I've seen a couple in different colours, but assumed they were painted after leaving the factory.
