Same colour as the one I had, Dark Green Mica (Although I think on the UK cars it was called Goodwood Green). Lovely colour that looks almost purple at an angle in strong sunlight.

No denying its a bargain at £999, but the turbo (Import only) is definately the one to go for, as someone else said its a very capable allrounder.

Pic of mine in its prime for nostalgia;

Nice looking car - do you have a better shot of the wheels?

That looks pretty tidy for the money.

The n/a's do feel a little gutless until you rev the engine like a hire car. Then they are pretty decent performers.

The ongoing attraction of these to me is the mechanical robustness, the looks, the sense of occasion and the myriad of different engines you can put into them to make them go like they look. With the amount been broken for spares, running one is very cheap too.

I've also never found the cars limits, no intention of finding them. But it keeps me interested driving a car that feels quite capable of killing you smile

I owned a Rev 1 for a couple of years and enjoyed it a great deal! I remember fondly of a trip to Le Mans in it in 2007, all stickered up. I drove nigh on 1000 miles in one go on the way back with no issues, not bad for a 17 year old car! As it was an early one it lacked the power steering, so was a little difficult to manouvre - however once up to driving speed the feedback was great.

There a great car for the money, and the sense of occasion of driving a low slung sports car with the engine behind was a pleasure.

Great SOTW.

They look like a good bargain if you can get a turbo for about £1500. How reliable are they? What are the common issues that need addressing?

Oil leaks around the turbo, general poor maintenance but other than that the engines are the most reliable Toyota have ever made. I had two MR2 turbos and a GT4 all using the 3S-GTE and all were superb with zero faults.

Best bet is to get one that's either been in the UK a while with a good owner or a fresh import from a reputable place.

Do not pay £1500 though as you'll likely get a dog.

Very nice set of wheels!
Is the brand "VOLK Racing wheels" a British make? What are the wheel sizes on your car and the name of the type, please? Couldn't find it on the net, yet.

I was wondering how long it would be before one of these ^ slipped into the thread. Really not my bag i'm afraid ...vomit...
I'm sorry, but that does not look like a Ferrari - even non car bores would notice that. The proportions are all wrong.

I had a rev 1 when I was 19 - insurance was truly spectacular but it was excellent fun. Span it out once in the wet (making a turn while pulling away from some traffic lights), learnt my lesson after that. I had to sell it and now I've bought one again as a fix-up project, but it's forlornly sitting under a tarp in the driveway waiting for me to repair it frown

I always wanted to do the rev limit on my NA, I figured it would stand up to 8500rpm with a few tweaks. Then people who knew better told me otherwise so I got a tubby frown
Well I can say from experience the rev3 lump was perfectly happy flying straight through the old rev limit and pulled right to the 8000rpm from 7000 as strongly as it did 6000 to 7000. I believe the el cheapo superchip for the rev3 na does the same. That engine really howls at 8000rpm, I had a jetex carbon enclosed airbox with feed from the side vent and a mongoose exhaust on it smile

Very nearly went for a Mk2 MR2 when I bought a Nissan 200SX. Nice looking little things and handle pretty well.
Honestly, I found the N/A versions a bit gutless and the engine a bit soulless (not as soulless as a standard S14 200SX engine though).
Turbo versions are the way to go IMO as they have the power to match the looks and dynamics.
Not really gutless. Stripped out & with only exhaust & induction they will do the 0-60 sprint in 6 secs dead. Once did a mag shoot at Bruntingthorpe, mainly turbos, but a couple of n/a's managed that time.

Curious coincidence that this comes just after the E-tron comments... bringing along the MR2 being named MR in France because of the scatological resemblance between emm-air-deuh and the word of Cambronne.

Anyway Toyotas are known to be the most reliable cars, so a sporty one must be joyful!
Several friends have one and seem happy.
