How about a 'period' classics pictures thread

One of the comments for this photo was "Cool rally jacket"

Which got me thinking. I have never been able to drive in a thick jacket of any kind, and I have only ever owned one such jacket. If I remember right it was a Shell or Esso jacket to which my wife had sewn a Porsche badge. Here I am cleaning my Dolly Sprint nt the 70's looking a suitable prat with said jacket and a deerstalker with the flaps tied under my chin, it was freezing!

The only other similar jacket I had was this Coca Cola thing sometime around 1980. Her on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in LA:

Do any of you guys have pics of you in cool looking jackets?

There was a separate thread on here a few months back about classic rally jackets of the 70's/early 80's..... Which got me thinking. The blue Carlton is on a V-suffix, so that means at least 1979. The Saab alongside it looks like it might be newer, but I don't really know Saabs, so maybe not. But at least 79. So, with a V-plate being Aug 1st 79, and it looking like summer, I'd say photo was taken no earlier than spring/summer of 1980..?

is August not summer then?
Thought I'd explained it enough in my post....I was inferring that for it to be summer 79, the Vauxhall and Saab would be brand new & a few weeks old (4-6 weeks at most) to be V-plate, if late summer, so, while entirely possible, I'm suggesting it's more likely to be taken in spring/summer 1980 at the earliest.

Old Subaru dealer not far from me, this was pre-impreza days. Sadly the garage is long gone replaced by several residential properties.

can't stand in the way of progress sometimes, the church is still there.... recently converted into offices
