I had a trip to Aldi this morning and once again they haven’t any frozen sausage patties in stock so I bought a few more bottles of Animus.

I bought a bag of Maris Piper spuds to make home made chips (got a fair bit of time on my hands at the moment), they are crap, full of black bits.
Wrong time of year for 'old' potatoes. New potato season, innit.

I am partial to the ping meal of Wiltshire ham gratin from Sainsburys. Just trying the Aldi one tonight. lick

FYI the OH reports back that the Aldi hobnobs are possibly nicer than the originals. yikes

..and although Aldi’s chocolate digestives have been in short supply they do chocolate Oaties (hobnobs).. now with 20% more Crack Cocaine so you’d better buy two packets.

Lamb rogan Josh & a prawn something or other curry this week. I think both pretty much good on the salt/fat scale thing. Really tasty & a half decent meal when you can’t be arsed to properly cook after a twelve hour shift

Probably the same supplier.

I wouldn't worry this thread is for any cheap supermarkets really.

Had those a few times when a new Farmfoods was unknown in town during the panic buying stage. Those schnitzels are fantastic, shame the rest of their meat was so hit and miss!

Scotch pies right next to the Billy’s and picked up a few other bits like bargain branded cans of sprite / Fanta etc.

Can’t believe I’ve never been before, loved it and will definitely be going back!

These are an easy Sunday lunch and were my Dad’s favourite. They stopped selling them for a while not bought them for a year now so not sure if they’ve changed.

Has anyone any thoughts on which oven chips are good from aldi? picked up ome of the beef dripping ones earlier. Will give these a go at some point.

I agree with what others have said.. i haven't seen the breakfast sausage patties in weeks. the entire section devoted to beef burgers...and beef in general has been very low. Everything else has been bursting with stock.

Agreed. Once you introduce Farmfoods and Iceland etc you end up talking about cheap food with 0 nutritional value rather than what we have here which is decent food worth giving a go from a discounter.

Genuinely no offence to anyone who does like that kind of food I get it, time and place etc however IMHO it would be good to keep this thread Lidl and Aldi.

Only a little snobbish and patronising! The XXL Schnitzels area prime example, you have to suspect they are the same thing repackaged. I've never done Farmfoods but Iceland have some decent specials that are definitely worth a try.

Well 'snobbish and patronising' are PH's tour de force. If we let Farmfoods in, it'll be Asda next and that once pleasant middle-class foray into value will be forever Vauxhall. wink
