I'm dubious it can do it. I think Avatar has a few runs, maybe if Endgame is rereleased next to some other MCU film, maybe.
Indeed. The box office is so much more impressive when you remember both Avatar and Titanic were re-released several times plus Avatar had the extra 3D income going for it too

But less impressive when you consider inflation, Star Wars, Avatar and Titanic are over $3b adjusted. On the flip side, they had less competition from other media, so Endgame to do this in 2019 is hugely impressive. It'll end up the 5th highest grossing film of all time adjusted, and obviously it did it in an absurdly quick time frame. Just watch infinity war and got to admit i find it a whole lot better
Maybe cuz im a big thor fan and the getting the axe bit and after coming to wakanda made it more of a 'come on thor' moment
I really felt that scene was missing the Immigration Song. I know I shouldn’t but I always think of that as his theme nowMaybe cuz im a big thor fan and the getting the axe bit and after coming to wakanda made it more of a 'come on thor' moment

I'm not too ashamed to admit I added it to my run playlist recently and when it comes on a little bit of, ok all of me, thinks I'm Thor. I shout get out of the way morons when I run past people.I love the Thor scene in infinity war, but then he is my fave, and yes it should have had that song. I like it when Banner says you guys are so screwed now.

A lot of my fave run songs are from soundtracks. My playlist for the Manchester 10k tomorrow has..three songs I think, from GotG2.I am actually looking now to see if there are any from Endgame that can give me that extra boost. The official CD thought seems to be instrumental

Portals still puts a smile on my face for that scene let alone the music...

Why could Captain America suddenly wield the hammer?
To wield the hammer you must be worthy. In the original Thor he is able to wield the hammer after he offers his life to save the others, I.e. he becomes worthy.Cap has always been a moral person, he ended up in the ice to save others. Its possible he always could, the scene in Ultron he moves it, possibly could lift but doesn't want to embarrass a Thor.
Mostly though it just made for a f
king food scene in a movie. That people have waited years to see.Yep the hammer's enchantment is not about strength, it's about "worthiness" which seems to amount to how good a person you are and Captain America's morale compass is about as straight as they come and he won't compromise those moral's for anyone. He even comes to blows with Tony Stark because he is so straight laced.

With this weekends numbers in it's still $173m shy of Avatar, it's dropping at 50%ish a week so it's tailing off just a bit too soon to make it.
Yeah John Wick has nabbed to top spot in US for the whole weekend which Detective Pikachu failed to do. Fall off this week has been pretty sharp. I finally saw it at the weekend.
I'd like to thank everyone for the decency of keeping life spoiler-free as whilst I could have predicted some parts of the ending, and did, I don't feel that at any time did I read something which said how it all happens.
Mainly, I enjoyed the film.
It wasn't as "wow" as Infinity War but it did keep me going for 3 hours, it wasn't too drawn out and the whole arc of the past 10 years was concluded in a satisfactory and entertaining way.
All I need now is a wig, and I can finally have the body of Thor that my wife has told me she really likes... be careful what you wish for!
