Scott Pilgrim vs the World. An Edgar Wright film I'd never seen but really wanted to. It's great smile , especially looking at the musical stuff in it now that he's made Baby Driver.

Took my son to see Jumanji - the next level

Loved the original (Robin Williams) and thought the newer one with the rock was OK.

The next level was absolute rubbish. Just a rehash of the last one with a few twists. Very disappointed!!
I thought this was quite entertaining and better than the first one. Some quite funny lines and nice to see Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. No more though please, I think it’s done.

Sadly I think it will keep going until it doesn't make money. That's how it works these days. frown

I quite enjoyed it, defo brain out fun. Part 3 is confirmed, but if they make loads (like transformers or fast&furious for example) maybe i'll give up with cinema and stick to home viewings, but the Next Level was decent imo.

Plus, I'd watch Karen Gillan in literally anything cloud9

Another strange Christmas movie - Filth is free on Prime. James McAvoy as Irvine Welsh's corrupt cop, chasing a promotion while descending into drug and alcohol fuelled insanity. Pretty true to the book as far as I can remember, it's a good mix of dark, sex, funny, and sad. 7/10

Paddington 2

Better than the first one (which wasn't bad) and full of recognisable British stars, one of which was somebody I normally can't stick but in this he was brilliant - Hugh Grant.

UNCUT GEMS

Fantastic movie loved it, and great perfomance by Adam Sandler. But seriously don't go if you have any heart issues, its unbelievably tense and stressful 99% of the time honestly we left the movie pretty exhausted and had to watch a comedy and beer to bring the stress levels down : )

9/10

Saw an early screening of Jo Jo Rabbit to escape Hogmanay crowds in Edinburgh earlier tonight. This is the story of a ten year old Nazi Youth member who has an imaginary friend in Adolph Hitler and a mother who is hiding a Jewess in her loft. Moving, effective and funny comedic anti nationalistic satire. 8.5 / 10. Genuinely funny in places and heart wrenching in others, possibly a bit surreal for some, but well worth the price of a cinema ticket.

Happy New Year!

Just watched guardians of the galaxy for the first time, not a sci-fi fan but thought it surprisingly watchable and genuinely funny in parts. Will track down sequel now.

I really enjoyed them both. The soundtrack is good too, but then I am of a certain age that would appreciate the nostalgia.

Galaxy Quest (1999)

Brain out silly Sci-Fi comedy. NIce cast. Quite amusing in places.

Alan Rickman rolling his eyes for England.
Sigourney Weaver busting out all over.

Just finished 'HyperNormalisation' by Adam Curtis on i-Player.

Fascinating. Frustrating. Sad. Shocking. Unbelievable.

I would encourage people to watch it.

James GUnn knows how to select a soundtrack, like Quentin. THe sequel was on the box at the weekend.
