Christmas lights bloke is back. Incidentally, his lights are never on when I pass and he's still to post the evidence of him donating his proceeds. But I digress, he's looking for a sofa.

I can't for the life of me decipher what 'Do u have got of them' could possibly mean.

A bit like local "Through Time" pages. You think it is going to be about your local town during WW2 or the Jacobite uprising or something, but it ends up being "I remember when there was a greengrocers where the Greggs is now" or vague nostalgia "who remembers being allowed to play in the river when they were wee?".
I like to wind ours up, because they are a group of obnoxious old farts who hate how the world is today, not because of what it is like, but because they are all old and they don't like all the young people enjoying it.

They hate any area of the town that isn't like it was in the 1960s. Apparently the town is now ruined because we got rid of two lanes of traffic outside all the shops and let people walk around in that space. The city centre was much better when it was literally an enormous roundabout with a garden in the middle. The council ruined everything etc. Basically everything they can get away with saying when they just want to be racist etc.

It seems to have descended into people just randomly sharing the names of people they are trying to catch up with like 'Does anyone remember Miranda Sharples who worked at the marmalade factory 1967-73 blue shift?'.

I reckon it’s ‘do you still have them’ if they think they’re being sold. Or ‘have you got any yet?’?

Reading the advert, I think he meant "Do u have TWO of them'

I moved to Braintree earlier this year and joined a few of the local FB groups then - know exactly what you are talking about.

Maybe their fav restaurant is the Harvester?

(Many years ago, I made a school boy error and left my mate to select the lunch venue, and he picked Harvester. I still haven't forgiven him!!!)

Looks like it fell on the floor, walked on and then scooped back onto the plate

Can't reach the hatch to get photos but is quite happy to sell the thing they can't reach...

Is this a trap?

"Here's my lovely face, come open my hatch, up you go, it's up there.... " and the next thing you know it's a scene from Hellraiser and you're a snack for some poor sod who thought they were playing with a Rubik's Cube.

Excellent logic there. I will threaten someone with a firearm, then I will call the police.

My local group are up in arms about a proposal to build a prison on a disused airfield about 7 miles away. I really don’t see why it’s an issue.
Up to the age of 20 I lived 4 miles from Risley Remand Centre (now HMP Risley) and they actually built an estate to house the prison officers and other staff who worked there. Over 30 years later it still provides lots of employment locally.

Absolutely no issues with being that close.

Charles Bronson spent some time there when he was 16!
