I love when someone doesn’t know how those flares are supposed to work and does that. It looks so silly I like that M5 though. I’d definitely go have a look and see if it was rescuable.

Forbye that the requirement to maintain the vehicle in roadworthy condition remains, whether an MoT is required or not. Eligibility for historic vehicle status is on a points-based system on originality of components. So many points for chassis/shell, engine/transmission, suspension, steering gear etc. For example though, it may pass with a new shell e.g. Heritage, provided it is to original specifications.
Rather more lenient with suspension and brakes as improvements there are seen as safety upgrades.
