Films I watched this week (Vol 2)

The Farewell
The grandmother of the family has cancer but the family decide not to tell her. A simple premise but what a great film. Set in China mostly.
How refreshing to see all the characters interacting with each other so similar to a close family in the western world. The grandmother is just like my Auntie Margot!
Loved it.

7/10
I saw hat, horror chanel last night, watched 5 mins it was good enough to record7/10
the free movie channels from 313 onwards are fair decent
Gotti
Wanted to see if it was as bad as everyone says it is.
My word.....awful! Not to mention it's massively sympathetic to Gotti as a man and what he did. The guy was an abject murdering
, but the film makes out he is not all that bad. Etc
0 attempts to come out the closet out of 10 .

Wild Rose on Prime.
Not impressed at all apart from some decent songs. No likeable characters, some ridiculous lucky chances to move the plot along and fake Scottish accents from two of the main characters in a film backed by Creative Scotland. Also why do films set in Scotland (and usually backed by public money) always seem to show Scotland in the worst possible light ?

Machete Kills
(Amazon Prime)
Even more bats
t bonkers than the first one, and walks a tightrope between satire, comedy, send-up, and self-aware pastiche. It could so easily have ended up trying too hard, but somehow manages not to. But only just.
I actually enjoyed it, although it dragged in several places and ultimately overstayed its welcome. But overall surprisingly entertaining for the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

I enjoyed the film.
Official Secrets
About the GCHQ employee who leaked a document revealing US and UK colluding to blackmail some UN members into voting for the Iraq War. Very interesting and extremely damaging to the Governments at the time.
Surely this film will be the one for history lessons in the future.

Is that the one that looks like a 2½ hour screen grab from World Of Warships? The first time I saw the trailer it looked like an advertisement for a video game. Terrible, terrible looking movie

Kingsman: The Golden Circle
I enjoyed the first film but this sequel didn't seem to capture the same fizz, and also seemed to take itself far too seriously. Well, at least until the Elton John fight which was quite amusing.
As my dear old dad would say, "It had its moments" but they felt rather far apart to me.
Don't get me wrong - it was ok and I didn't hate it or anything. It just felt a bit.... meh.
