Are you a proponent of tolling or not as your argument can be applied that all motorways rather than just the M6(T) should be chargeable similiar to other countries and to extend that, now we have the technology are you agreeing that all road miles should be chargeable? If not why not?

As regards the bridge maintenance surely those locally to it are those most benefiting from it's existence until tolls are taken into account.
They're also "benefitting" from the poor air quality!

Im having a mare with these at the moment.
Forgot to make a payment so rang up was told wait until the fine comes and pay 2.50.
Anyway get home from holiday, no letter so i rang, woman said it has been generated so i can take the payment of 2.50 now.
Happy days, also told me to disregard the letter.
Forward a few weeks and ive now got a letter saying i still owe the charge as according to them it was paid before it was generated but the woman today thinks the operator credited my account instead of cancelling it so ive now had to make a formal appeal against it or its £107.50 or a ccj thereafter.
Its ridiculous. Ive paid in good faith. They reckon they will trace the phonecalls to see what was said (yeah right)
I rang yesterday and the guy said yep its our error so i said can i have email confirmation.
This morning i get an email saying the person yesterday asked for it to be cancelled but its still gone through so now just waiting for the outcome of the official appeal.
Il pay the fine rather then get a ccj but its a joke. All for a 2.50 fee

They won’t issue a ccj. I made an error before, forgot to change an address on a car. Ended up with £187 charge from bailiffs, looked like a CCJ but came from some other court. Can’t recall the full specifics. But paid up as I was in the wrong.

It happened to me 2 times once in 2015 when I forgot to pay up and called their helpline they accepted the dart charge without no penalties

2nd time last year when I tried to pay closer to midnight and the payment page kept crashing and missed the deadline and paid at 12 30 AM (30 mins past deadline)

I got a penalty notice as I took the screen shots of the payment page crashes I forwarded it to them and explained, they accepted it

Afternoon, fully aware this is my own fault but i forgot to go online and pay for a return trip over the Dartford crossing. Not somewhere i have been since it changed or something i use regularly so just plain forgot. The deadline was midnight Sunday, I went on amd paid today to at least show I intended to pay. Am i likely to receive a penalty for late payment or non payment? Anyone been in a similar situation?

If i was in the wrong id have no bother paying, even in the grand scheme of things a hundred quid isnt that much but when you think of how much the original charge is its extreme.
its currently in dispute so hopefully someone will look at it and see sense.

If they made the fine £10, I doubt anyone would complain and Dart people would make a mint.

£2.50 by the next midnight if you remember and £10 invoice sent to your door with 14 days to pay if you don't.

I went on the crossing Saturday, going Gatwick, so back and forth. Was a busy day, then got home had some family come around. Then fell asleep watching TV. Sunday was busy, then remembered the 11pm, only downside internet was down. So now stting bricks as I could not pay the charge.
This Monday morning, I checked and internet back on.
I thought I would call the Dart charge line, I didn't even realise that they were on till midnight last night (only noticed now) redface So I spoke to some guy called Saeed and he was not having it, basically saying you just have to wait for the fine to come through and that I should have gone out to the shop and pay at a payment point. That time of night would have defeated the object, would have had to drive 30 mins or more to find one as the local shop is closed that time of night.
I paid £5 for the two crossings, just got to wait and see if they would accept it or still fine me.
Moral of the story set up a account. I think the system sucks to be honest as you cannot check crossings done before payment is done. If the government was really nice they would have had a system that text you or email you when you made a crossing so you had a reminder.
As the first time I forgot to pay I was going on holiday and left car in airport car park. Remembered when I got back. So got fine reminder notice waiver - this time I guess I would not get that!

I also forgot to pay at the end of August, it was my first time through that system as i normally take the M20/25/40 up to Cheshire from the Eurotunnel. I did make a payment a couple of days later, but it turned out that payment would be for a future crossing.
I phoned the Dart line and was told to wait for the fine. It arrived a few days later and informed me that as it was my first offence, the cost would be £2.50. Seems fair enough.

I used the Dartford crossing on my way to and from Southampton on Friday. I was knackered on Friday evening upon returning home, so thought I'd just pay it the next day. Unfortunately I completely forgot to pay the toll on Saturday, only remembering about half an hour ago today. I've paid £5 for the 2 crossings as of now, but from reading this thread, they'll only count as credit for future crossings and I will likely receive a letter, or will it be 2 letters, one for each crossing?

I've never forgotten to pay the charge before and I've been through and paid successfully in this particular car a few times before, so my question is, will I get an offer to pay just the crossing charge for being a 'first time offence', or does it only count if it's the first time you've actually used the crossing?

I'd used the crossing quite a few times before the day I forgot. I got the fine through the post, together with an accompanying letter saying "pay it online within 24 hours and we'll call it quits". biggrin

Edited to add it was only once or twice maybe since the DART Charge was introduced.

This.

When the fine arrives all you will need to pay is the crossing fee.

I've done this 6 times.

Just had a letter but there was no option to pay online within 24 hours. I had paid, albeit I missed the midnight cut off by 11.5 hours (travelled Friday, paid Sunday morning)

Oddly, and I might be tempting fate here, I've only had the fine for travelling through the tunnel, and not my return over the bridge a couple of hours later... although I have paid for both crossings.

Anyway, I have sent their form back with my payment reference number, shall await their response.

This thread just reminded me I used the crossing on Sunday (the only time in 3+ years) and forgot to pay.

Is it worth calling them? What’s the damage if it’s paid quickly?

I forgot to pay, then made a bks of a late payment, received a 'fine' but with the option to just pay for the crossing so I did that.
