No. nono
I watched the second series first, then went back to see Ben Chaplin. He was better.
Stuke is annoying.
Chaplin was better but I did not mind Stuke to much. I think along with the actor changing they actually changed the tone of the show. The first series was much darker. I think you really just have to look at the later series as a slightly different show aiming for something different and I think in that respect it was OK.
I agree with this and it's one of my fave TV shows - still have it all on DVD.
What a time to fall in love with Samantha Janus...cloud9

Slightly off topic. Olivier was one of the first to be considered for the role.shoot

Jason Dawe was the third presesnter of series one of the 'new' TG, before he was replaced by James May for series two.

Series one seems to have disappeared into an abyss that doesn't even appear on Dave, much like the Chirs Evans series.

Your username is almost very apt.

I try.

(If I had a penny for each time a thread goes off topic, I'd be a millyonaire, Del Boy).

My favourite episode was when he stuggled to keep himself entertained in his flat when Martin & Mandy were at work.
Mandy returned home to find Matthew in her bed asleep, wearing her panties laugh

John Steed had several "lady friends" in the original Avengers.
Emma Peel / Diana Rigg better than Honor Blackman, though perhaps puberty had something to do with that (mine, not hers)

Probably the most confusing was Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke as Becky in Roseanne, swapping several times, then appearing together.

Jason Dawe was the third presesnter of series one of the 'new' TG, before he was replaced by James May for series two.

Series one seems to have disappeared into an abyss that doesn't even appear on Dave, much like the Chirs Evans series.
Clarkson said later that they wanted James May for the new Top Gear as he'd already been a presenter and they knew it would work well.
The BBC wouldn't let them and insisted they have a woman as third presenter because the three of them were "too much the same."
So they ended up with Jason Dawe...

And within the Jason Dawe series was indeed Michael Gambon, giving his name to the final corner on the track, Harry Enfield setting his incredibly slow lap, Richard Burns doing a bit, and my favourite stunt they did of "Jumping a bus over a load of motorbikes"

I just looked up a clip of him. I can see why they replaced him but the really noticeable thing is how small the audience was back then!

From Wiki:-

Quote

"Top Gear
Initially, Jeremy Clarkson wanted James May to present the rebooted series of Top Gear; however, May declined, with Dawe later agreeing to present the first series alongside Clarkson and Richard Hammond.[citation needed] When May wished to present the show for the second series due to the increasing popularity of the programme, Clarkson thought about Dawe staying and to have four presenters. However, his co-presenter Richard Hammond was very close to being fired alongside Dawe.[3]

Following his departure from Top Gear, Dawe returned to his presenting career in 2005, now presenting Used Car Roadshow with Penny Mallory; the programme was cancelled in 2007 due to budget cuts.[4][5]

When Clarkson, Hammond and May all left the programme in 2015, it was widely speculated that Dawe would return to co-present the show.[6][failed verification] However, Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were announced as the new presenters, with it officially confirmed that Dawe would not return in favour of new presenters. Dawe now runs a successful Automotive consultancy and film production company".

End quote.

I have no idea how much of that is true/not true.
