Rambo probably would have been a better pick than first blood. Still wouldn’t have been my choice though.

Also, no point doing a 90s one as it would just be The Matrix

There are loads of good 90s action films: Terminator 2, Speed, Starship Troopers, Leon, Ronin, every John Woo film, Blade. A lot of variety compared to the 80s and post 2000.

This is why I always maintain that some of the best films came out of the 80's.

I'm stuck between Die Hard, Terminator and Top Gun.

I think Top Gun takes it for me as it's got a soundtrack that the other two just don't!

Police Story is a good shout, it has some of the craziest stunts ever put to film. Can't even imagine how sore those actors must have been the next morning.

Well, having re watched these films in the last few weeks there’s one thing I have to say.....

TopGun is a truly crap film. Doesn’t stand the test of time, excruciatingly cheesy romance plot, massive plot holes, terrible storyline, lots of questionable action scenes. Only the thing that really is good is the soundtrack. If you are in your fifties....!!!!

The new TopGun film will have to deliver a much better film.

First Blood is a very good movie and by far the most realistic of the Rambo movies. For that reason though it isn't an out and out action movie.

The best movie on that list IMO is Aliens as it has everything. Pacing, humour, horror, action, characters. Unlike Terminator everything still holds up today as well, whereas Terminator has some dated special effects and is very eighties.

Only one of these is timeless AND have a fantastic classical film. Score.

The rest are dated 80s films

Are we not counting Raiders as an action film? Or does that go under “Adventure” film?
Similarly I personally classify The Terminator more as a thriller. I guess most of us know by now the reason why the nightclub is called Tech Noir was because the film was conceived as a blend of sci-fi and noir.

I would have also voted for Beverly Hills Cop if it were on the list. My brother and I still quote that movie to this day.
Jackie Chan's Police Story was another I adored growing up- https://youtu.be/EpXMJ3wo0kI
