I thought it was quite an entertaining programme but I don’t think they beat Jonny Smith’s record and he probably had an even smaller budget.
The problem seemed to be an excess of power over grip that GM didn’t seem able to moderate.
In retrospect I think they missed an opportunity to bring JS in to acknowledge his achievement, and use his knowledge. The problem seemed to be an excess of power over grip that GM didn’t seem able to moderate.
But they chose that other knob off the Tube of U.
Been a while since GM broke a record, fingers crossed for the next instalment.

I'm not sure what some people want from an entertaining and quite informative mainstream TV programme.
Of course, some people oddly just hate the idea of electric vehicle propulsion.
I'm one of them but it's not odd. I just see them as 'white goods'.Of course, some people oddly just hate the idea of electric vehicle propulsion.

An appliance, no character, no soul.

The sooner that sub/urban areas are rid of the constant stench and fug of diesel fumes the better.
We are talking about transport, which is mostly not a soulful experience.

Please do not cheapen the legacy of Fred Dibnah by comparing him to Guy Martin.
They have a strong accent and overalls in common, but Guy seems to watch people make stuff, while Fred would go into his old workshop and make it himself. Fred had a proper motor too, not some brand new Transit / MAN
Guy would probably beat Fred in a bike race, although they have both won the TT the same amount of times.Red9zero said:

For pure 'transport' like buses, trains, lorries (if possible) then it's fine, but I enjoy actual 'driving' and for me part of that is the sound of a fruity engine, gear changes etc, and an EV just doesn't have any soul. Their party trick of high torque drag strip type acceleration just doesn't excite me. If you want a car as a utility to get from A to B that's one thing, but if you want an immersive experience then it's ICE only for me.The sooner that sub/urban areas are rid of the constant stench and fug of diesel fumes the better.

Sure the bike was a Swind - As in Swindon Powertrain, the guys that make touring car motors, moved into electromods and various other things.
I'd have one of the bikes in a second if I had the disposable to chuck around.
The national charging infrastructure getting a roasting on TV can't be a bad thing, anything to get things moving.
As it stands I think I'm agreeing with Guy - My future likely to have electric in it, for the domestic stuff at least. But still preferring ICE for occasional long touring. Wait long enough and trying to get a tank of super unleaded might be difficult, politically engineered petrol range anxiety!
