Selection of brown Mk 4 (2.0 and 2.3 Ghias in Cordoba Beige and Oyster Gold)) and Mk 5 (2.3 Ghias Chestnut Brown and Walnut Brown) Cortinas owned by myself a few years back.
Doesn't seem that long ago tbh!

What a great collection of Cortina’s. Whilst I don’t like brown as a 17 year old (in 1990) I was bidding on a metallic brown W Reg Cortina 2.3 Ghia. I was hardly flush with money so i couldn’t be too choosy regarding the colour. Doesn't seem that long ago tbh!
Unfortunately, the bidding went beyond what I was carrying in cash and I lost out. How did you find the 2.3 Ghia Cortina, I’ve always hankered after one.

Had many many Cortinas in their heyday of late 70s early 80s and particularly liked the 2.3 Ghia (manual) also owned a few in the medium green metallic and Cosmos blue (FWA 865V 1980 model supplied by TC Harrison Sheffield btw) which was probably my favourite being the first mark 5 I owned.
I haven't driven or owned one since the early 80s though and bearing in mind how things have progressed hugely with cars tend to think it could be a big disappointment overall but interesting nontheless!
Can't think of 3 cooler 'browns' than these:

I was about 12. An apprentice petrolhead and already distressed by dad’s mundane choice of cars during my lifetime, an Austin A55 , a Triumph Herald , a beige Hillman Minx etc.
Maybe a mid-life crisis, who knows, but suddenly he swings into the drive in a Cortina Mk3 2000GT in green with a b.v.r. I jump in, high back seats, leather-effect gear knob and, wow, that’s 3 dials in front of you and another 4 angled towards you from the central console. On the outside those swoopy 2 door lines, quad halogen lights and those great Tinilites. Not to mention that magical stink of Ziebart.
Looked good in brown GXL form also :

I’d be very happy with that as well - the colour wouldn’t bother me a bit. Although there’s a lovely mid green that’s nice from that era as well.friederich said:
