A Quiet Place
I've seen 28 films at the cinema this year and as an experience this has been the absolute stand out by some margin. Packed cinema yet from the very first second everyone is absolutely silent. 90 minutes later and food and drink around me is untouched as nobody dared make a sound.
A film that could easily be ruined by the cinema experience yet also elevated by it in the right conditions. Luckily I experienced the latter and it was thrilling.
Never has a bit of audio (30 minutes in!) been met with so much relief, the sound design is sparse but fantastically well done. Emily Blunt was superb and really nails an extended sequence which escalates to almost unbearable levels.
Between this and Ghost Stories it's a fantastic week for horror. Both very, very different films but both feel really fresh and original.
Watched this last night. Thought it was brilliantly"done" and was impressed that they resisted the temptation to add too much to it. Never has one person eating popcorn on the other side of the cinema sounded so loud!I've seen 28 films at the cinema this year and as an experience this has been the absolute stand out by some margin. Death Wish with Brucie. I was very pleasantly surprised with this one, I thought I'd enjoy it but I was unsure as to what degree - bloody loved it.
It's getting slated by the critics. I enjoyed it.I trust critic reviews the same as I do polls these days.

Hurricane Heist.
Watched this yesterday, it's a sky cinema film, that's on sky and also at the cinema.
It's probably one of the worst films I've ever seen.
The script was almost comical, the acting, action sequences and accents, all awful.
3/10
I like films with people who have southern American accents so I'd give it a little higher score. 3.8/10Watched this yesterday, it's a sky cinema film, that's on sky and also at the cinema.

I like Deepstar Six, I know by almost every measure it's crap, but I still like it. I have a lot of old '80's films like that....
Last night I rented out The Snowman, what a mess of a movie, was the editor on drugs!
"DeepStar Six was the first release of several underwater-themed feature movies released during 1989, including Leviathan, The Evil Below, Lords of the Deep, The Rift (Endless Descent) and The Abyss. With the exception of The Abyss, none of these films were box office hits."Last night I rented out The Snowman, what a mess of a movie, was the editor on drugs!
I used to get DSS and Abyss confused, now thanks to the horror channel, I've seen DSS. I've seen Levithan, a cheap THing rip-off, you may like it, not seen the other three!!
