Le Mans '66/Ford vs. Ferrari - bought as a treat during a recent depressing trip to the supermarket (it's a motorsport film, so essential shopping). biggrindriving

Missed the volume/engine noise of the cinema viewing, but still fabulous entertainment.

Get yourself a Surround sound system of some flavour and you'll get all the noise you want.

The Bourne Identity (2002) DVD

Amnesia suffering "rogue" agent frantically tries to piece his life back together.

Still a great action/thriller 18(!) years later.

Love love love that film

First one where it.made Bond films look a bit st.

The very moment it woke me up to it was when he is woken up on the bench by the police

First three are excellent and really forced Bond into the Daniel Craig era, fourth with Jeremy Renner is different and the fifth one, we don’t talk about the fifth in polite company.

yes

(although IMO it's time for Bond to start re-discovering undersea submarine lairs, flying Space Shuttles & battling voodoo).

The Wolf of Wall Street

Having not seen this for a while and fallen asleep when it was on TV recently I decided to watch my copy in full. Fully deserves the 18/R classification and I love the fact it's a true story.

Watched a couple of films this week.

Failed to get to the end of Miss Fisher And The Crypt Of Tears despite the delectable Miss Essie Davis in the title role. My wife takes several attempts to watch most things (she's often tired after a shift at the hospital), and normally I like a TV episode of the Miss Fisher series. But this one just didn't roll along with enough pace to keep my attention. I'll probably catch up on it some time, but it just didn't have the budget or the production values to "make it" as a feature length outing.

One I did enjoy, though, was Solace (2015). Sir Anthony Hopkins as a psychic consultant for the FBI called back by his FBI agent friend after isolating himself from society following the death of his daughter. A serial killer is on the loose, killing seemingly random victims, leaving no forensic evidence. My wife said it didn't get very good reviews, but we both thoroughly enjoyed watching it. One of the few films recently she's watched in one sitting without falling asleep half-way through and having to watch again...

Other than that, I really enjoyed seeing the four Indiana Jones movies over the Easter weekend. Even Crystal Skull was OK, to be fair, even if the whole "I have a son?" thing and the return of Ms Ravenwood was a bit schmaltzy. I didn't watch all of them complete, and I missed the middle part of Temple Of Doom entirely. But they are just fabulous adventure movies that don't rely too heavily on post production visual effects and so they have dated (IMHO) rather well.

It's been that time since Sir Roger ended his tenure. Bond died with Octopussy.

It was originally meant to be a sequel to Seven, and it shows. Not exactly in the same league but pretty good.

Yep, & all the more reason to bring some nonsense back now.

The gentlemen

On nites tv. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Hugh Grant plays a great sleazy slime ball character. Very Guy Ritchie but if you like those type of films it’s great.

Wolf of Wall Street

Saw this when it was launched. But watched it the other night. It's a strange film since it does glorify what Belfort did. And obviously the real Belfort is at the end. Which is also a bit off. (Quick Google shows he has NEVER paid back the money he stole)

It's well acted of course. And Margot Robbie. Well cloud9

7/10

Baby Driver

Slickly edited! The music is choreographed beautifully. Even little touches where characters will motion and a small sound effect will happen. Love story isn't over played. It's not a laugh every minute, but there are some nice touches in there.

Wasn't sure if Id like it, but I did.

Watched Seven Psychopaths yesterday, a rather dark comedy thriller with some excellent performances from a well known cast.

7/10.
Paulo : Put your hands up!

Hans : No.

Paulo : What?

Hans : I said no.

Paulo : Why not?

Hans : Because I don't want to.

Paulo : But I've got a gun...

Hans : I don't care.

Paulo : It doesn't make any sense!

Hans : Too bad!

Sam Rockwell parts where’s he’s acting out how they all get shot cracks me up.

Etc etc

You're there, but you're just there to observe, and that's all right. Nobody thinks you're a pussy. But it's started raining now. Lightning. And oh, no, look who's wandered in like a fking idiot. It's Kaya. She's come to say sorry to you, and she loves you, and that she didn't mean to be such a fking bh. You scream out, "Kaya! Stay back!" Too late, she's fking mown down. fking mown down! Her head almost comes off. Her head does come off. You scream out her name, all sad, and she dies. You throw your notepad away. Art and peace and all that st can wait! Now's the time for men to be men! "fk you, you s!" It's really emotional. And then... Hold on. Yeah...

Great films. The Wolf is legendary. And Baby Driver has Lily James.

Richard Jewell - Interesting felt a bit like a comedy instead of a drama, not really indepth but quite shocking how the Federal Gov treats innocent people.

Fish Called Wanda - Still a good story but by god it's aged badly. Sort of a Guy Ritchie convoluted crime comedy drama with a bit more slapstick, a very annoying Kevin Kline (which won him an Oscar) and a very fit Jamie Lee Curtis with the Pythons playing silly buggers.
8/10

Being made and set in the 80's it looked pretty grim. None of the 80's nostalgia or glamour you get in modern 80's films.
