Just watched Lion on Netflix bit old so not sure if it's been mentioned yet and based on a true story.

Dev Patel gets separated accidently from his family in India, when he's young boy, after slumming it for a while he gets adopted by an amazing Australian couple the mums played by Nicole Kidman.

Later on in life he tries to find his real family again.

Absolute tear jerker my Mrs was in bits.

9 outta 10
Superb film, you have no soul if that doesn't get to you.

In other news, we watched “Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw” which on some levels is pure drivel, unbelievable cack..... but, because it’s so rubbish, it was quite enjoyable for that day’s mood.

So at the right time and place I might give it 8/10 for brain out entertainment even though it won’t rank on any serious film review scales.

You won’t need me to tell you anything about it. You know the plot, the stunts, the one-liners....
Watched last night, knew it would be brainless cack and it was, sort of enjoyable in a dumb way but can’t give it more than a 4/10 even if taken like that, 3 of them for the 720S

I seemed to have missed this installment in the famous franchise.

Reviews don't look favourable however.

The Guns of The Magnificent Seven

A very, very pale sequel to the original. More a Meh Seven.
Oh and when creeping up on and attacking an enemy, in a desert, a bright red shirt is a very stupid idea.

The Addams Family (1991)

Such a good fun film, I hadn't watched it for years and it brought back such memories, but I also saw things in it I hadn't seen before. The performances by Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd are fantastic for their parts. It really looks like they are having a great time playing those characters! I hadn't appreciated them so much when I was 11. Wednesday/Christina Ricci was the part I most liked when I first saw it at that age! It's now the acting and the joy that was so clearly there in making the film that I find most entertaining!
Wonderful film. Enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

The Dirty Dozen - old wartime classic with interesting sets, acting and some debatable battle scenes.

I watched this and the sequel back to back and like you say they just look like so much fun to make. It's hard to pick a favourite performance, they're all great.

Strange combination tonight, Magnum Force, which I enjoyed more than I should have. Ridiculous plot, but Eastwood strolls through it so laconically you forget that...i might even have preferred it to Dirty Harry...

Dead Man's Shoes. Paddy Considine is consistently wonderful in everything I've seen him in but this is a different level. A truly believable dangerous psychopath in this film which is quite terryfying at times. The forced house party was so tense even though you know what's gonna happen...thats great direction. Solid British film that I can't recommend enough

Fighting With My Family

Thought it would be awful but a decent enjoyable family movie with predictable ending.

Suprised the Rock was involved!

You call it predictable if you know it's a true story I guess? smile

It was actually the Rock who pushed to make the movie after seeing the documentary on British TV about her families Wrestling Company back in Norwich.
He has worked with her closely in real life and once he realised her story he apparently identified it with his own (family background in wrestling and having to struggle to make ends meet etc) he actually then became her mentor. In fact it was the Rock who sent a copy of the documentary to Stephen Merchant to convince him to come on board with the movie. So hes not only involved, hes the real driving force behind it.

Really great feel good movie even knowing the way it was going to end (Apparently it is 95% true to actual events, including the phone call to Paige's parents to tell then she was appearing on the WWE the following night)

I'm not sure the Rock would appreciate Paige's other "movies" that were put out, going against his wholesome image lol.

A Simple Plan (1998) iPlayer

Plan to hide a chance discovery of a sack of iffy cash from a crashed plane in winter Wisconsin rapidly go south as protagonists turn on one another.

Hadn't seen this for a while, good stuff though - Billy Bob Thornton in particular stands out.

At the back end of last year my goddaughter's school performed a production of The Addams Family. The teenager who was playing Morticia absolutely nailed the movements and mannerisms of the Huston's role and did the "walking/gliding without moving" thing really well.
Lots of fun. thumbup
